Joe Wilson's Credibility Problem
Front Page Magazine,com ^ | July 15, 2005 | Joel Mowbray

Posted on 07/15/2005 7:33:57 AM PDT by YaYa123

The virtual vigilantes circling Karl Rove have everything lined up for the brand of justice they see fit for “the Architect”: public humiliation, all-out character assassination, firing, near-fatal damage to the White House, and if they get the cherry on top, “frog-marching” the President’s closest advisor from 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. to a federal prison.

There’s just one hitch: their entire political case rests on the quicksand known as Joe Wilson.

As part of the cynical campaign to destroy the man who guided Bush to four straight electoral victories, the Left has hailed Wilson as a hero. At first blush, the idiocy of exalting the man with a well-documented credibility problem would seem to rival the decision to roll the cameras as Dukakis gave the thumbs-up while riding in a tank.

But the Left’s entire rationale for the “Fire Rove” tidal wave is that revealing Valerie Plame’s status as a CIA employee was nothing more than a “shameful,” “despicable,” and “disturbing” act of “retaliation,” “retribution,” or “revenge.” If they admitted that Wilson layered lies upon lies, then logic dictates that Rove did no more than encourage a reporter not to be hoodwinked.

There’s just one hitch: their entire political case rests on the quicksand known as Joe Wilson.

And the Dems and the Liberal media are all too willing to sink in the quicksand with Wilson, as long as they go down swinging.

FOX News just had a round table discussion about the latest developments.

Even the liberal on the panel concurred that this dog won't hunt for the Democrats and the MSM anymore, but don't expect them to unlock their jaws until reality really sinks in.

They invested their souls and emotions into this manufactured scandal, and they are like a kid who woke up on Christmas morning and discovered he received clothes from Aunt Grace instead of a BB gun.

Since the libs are the minion of 'the father of lies', it goes to reason they would back Wilson.
It's so disgusting to use our taxpayer dollars for their fancies and trival slander/outright lies.

Why the euphemisms? Joe Wilson is a lying sack of crap who wants to sell books and be a hero on the liberal cocktail party circuit. He thought John Kerry was going to be president and he would have a cushy White House job with lots of perks and party invitations.

If you asked me to trade places to day with Joe Wilson or Karl Rove, I know which one I would pick.

More and more, I believe that Rove knows exactly what is going on and there is a trap to be sprung here somewhere. It may be that Miller and Cooper know the truth also and that truth points right back to the MSM as the culprits.

Something doesn't add up when Miller didn't even write an article and she is the one in jail. There must be more to that story.

Maybe this is wishful thinking, but when all is said and done, this may end up being a case of one hand of the MSM not knowing what the other was doing. I can imagine as the calls for an investigation were being trumpeted by most in the MSM, those in the know (Miller, Cooper, etc), might have been quietly saying, ix-nay on the call-for-an-investigation-nay.

I think the Dems have brought their own rope and Rove is happy to let them hang themselves.

The goal of the Lefties might really be to make sure Rove has no access to classified information.

Imagine Bolton at the UN, nosing around for information on the Oil For food Scandal, and no one is allowed to discuss this with Rove.

Imagine selecting candidates for the USSC and Rove is not allowed to see any background information on them..

This Jack@$$ ought to be investigated for fraud at the very least. Or maybe I'll go on a self appointed fact finding mission at the publics expense.

The biggest question in this whole thing is who is Miller protecting?

Rove gave a blanket waiver to ANYONE he spoke with, so it is clear that Miller is not trying to protect Rove. And ther is no way the NYTimes would try to protect Rove.

So who is she protecting? Wilson?

From the article you referenced, the crux of the matter: Today’s New York Times reports...Novak testified that he called Rove — just as Cooper had — and that Rove did not give any indication that Plame was undercover. The Times further reports that Novak testified Bush’s right-hand man was merely his second source. If true, this explodes the Left’s theory that Rove was shopping the story for any willing taker.

Your theory is possible but I think the dems are not that nuanced. Their attacks tend to be more ham-handed. They see Rove as the reason they are losing elections (note, they are still in denial thinking that Rove is "tricking" the majority of the voting public) and if they can get rid of him, their political fortunes will change.

If they somehow were able to get Rove out (which will never happen), imagine their crushing suprise at their next defeat at the polls. Maybe, then, they would face the fact that the problem is in the mirror and not in some political genious boogeyman.

Thanks mucho.

The Times further reports that Novak testified Bush’s right-hand man was merely his SECOND SOURCE. If true, this explodes the Left’s theory that Rove was shopping the story for any willing taker. It also adds credence to the likelihood that he had no clue Plame’s status at the CIA.

So we have Novak and Rove testifying that the name was out there prior to their conversation and we have Novak and Cooper testifying THEY called Rove. Any wonder why ALL the morning talk shows didn't report this.

If I have time I think I'll ask my Senator for an explanation since he embarrassed me to no end yesterday.

Was Wilson under oath when he testified to the Senate Committee? If so, then why in the hell has he NOT been charged with PERJURY?

Anyone who needs to go to jail is Wilson and his minions like chucky, dean, and the reast of the Socialist in America! Clearly Wilson and his gang conspired to unseat a sitting President of the United States, using the CIA and lies to accomplish this criminal feat!
