Soviet Premier Joseph Stalin turned to the United States for help and in a secret telegram asked President Franklin Roosevelt for war assistance in the form of tanks, trucks, ammunition and aircraft. In November 1941 President Franklin D. Roosevelt agreed to extend the Lend-ease Act to the U.S.S.R. Over the next four years thousands of aircraft were sent to Russia to stem the German onslaught. U.S. built P-40's, P-39's, B-25's, A-20's, and P-63's were used in large numbers to defeat the Nazi invaders.

Why did we have to help Communist Russia? The Germans would have beaten them, then overextended themselves all the way to China. We would have gained a lot more by not helping them. Was Roosevelt a communist sympathizer?

It actually goes back further than that. Much of the money for the communist revolution came from the West.

If Russia had fallen the Germans would have had been able to use those troops to fight us. They had their best soldiers in Russia. As it was the war in the East exhausted BOTH giants.

It is sickening. The left has made it impossible to punish >execute or long prison terms< spies and traitors. (I figure they did it to protect themselves if they get caught.) Yet, they carry on over this Wilson thing like it will end our nation as we know it. What about the missile secrets that Clinton allowed the Red Chinese to have????? And, now those jerks are threatening to nuke our cities!!!

BTW, I think they would have just stretched themselves all the way to China. Then they would have had the Chinese to deal with. Plus, they would have had continually resistance throughout Russia.

We should not have helped the Soviets. It was a poor decision.

The Soviets were evil but not explicitly trying to kill us. The Russians were horribly underequipped. If the Germans had defeated Russia that would have united them with Japan. Remember, Japan had already conquered most of China. Then their elite battle hardened armies could march back to fight us.

Sure Roosevelt was a commie in "secret". But that doesn't instinctively make his policy evil.

How many of their own people did they kill under Lenin, and how many millions more under Stalin?? What is the difference between dieing in an oven right away and dieing by starvation while you work and live outside until you freeze to death.

The communists and the fascists are all cousins, close cousins, with the same mental and spiritual deformity - no soul. There is not one iota of difference.

The Soviets were not trying to conquer the entire world and kill or enslave all other than Germans(and a few Scandinavians). It was Russia that broke their back. The Soviets were horrible but not to the extent of the Nazis and they were not trying to kill us. It was a matter of the lesser of two evils.

News to me, and to most serious and honest students of history. But if you prefer your fantasies, no one can stop you. Yes, Stalin made the pact with Hitler because he was not trying to "kill" us, or anyone else. Right. NOT. Stalin made the pact with Hitler because he thought we and the Brits would immediately respond to Hitler and destroy him, weaken Germany and German's Eastern European allies, and he would move in for the spoils. The archives of the KGB opened in the early 1990s and documents show the soviet plans for Eastern Europe predated WWII. Soviet agents were already working on "sovietizing" Europe before Hitler invaded his first victim.

Still they didn't plan mass genocide of everyone. Without Russia I doubt we would have been able to beat Hitler for a LONG time. That would have meant we would spend many of our lives dying instead of Russians. If we could beat him. I'm by no means saying the Soviets were fighting to save us. They weren't. But they did fight and the more Germans they killed the less Americans died.

As it was both countries got exhausted nearly to destruction. Without our support it would have been very one-sided.

They are communist. Communist are bad. But not as life threatening as the Nazis. The Nazis without fighting a Russia who had our help probably would have conquered Britain.
