A man who allegedly made the bombs used in the London attacks has reportedly been detained in Egypt.
American television company ABC said the man, believed to have had a central role in making the explosive devices, had been held near Cairo and was being questioned.
'Good Morning America' said authorities believed the man had left Britain two weeks before the London explosions on July 7.
The report said authorities were eager to learn whether more than one bomb-maker had been involved and whether more bombs had been made.
Earlier, police in Britain said they wanted to speak to an Egyptian scientist, who was working on a project backed by a regional development agency.
Magdy Elnashar, who studied for a PhD at Leeds University, was also supported by Yorkshire Forward - the regional development agency.
Mr Elnashar is thought to have links to a Leeds flat being searched by anti-terrorist officers, although police have not confirmed this.
The flat is located in Hyde Park, where 600 residents were evacuated on Tuesday so police and Army experts could carry out a controlled explosion.
It is understood his connection to the flat may be totally innocent and police would simply like to speak to him as part of the wider inquiry.
Is this the same guy who is somehow connected with an attack on a Christian church in Pakistan????

THIS is Egyptian Magdy Mahmoud Elnashar who is wanted over the London suicide bombings.
Give him what the "insurgents" gave the Egyptian ambassador to Iraq.
Gotta hand it to the Brits. They're making fast work of this.
He must not be the absolute brains in the organization to return back to Egypt and get caught this quickly. I think the tide is beginning to turn in the muslim world and more moderates are getting sick of their own being victims of the jihidists(like the Egyptian ambassador who was kidnapped and murdered in Iraq last week)
Well, if it makes you feel better...Ward Churchill teaches at mine... :-)
Boy I hope they don't do anything *mean* to him like turn off his air conditioner......... /sarcasm
Yes, and I bet the methods do not include underwear and bras......
Noting how quickly they have nabbed him, they must have had him under surveillance for a while.
I don't understand how the Mafia in NJ allows this to happen. Oops I mean the government in Trenton NJ...Sorry.
Maybe the ambassador killing was elNashar's warning to "leave me alone".
There's a lot of Anthrax research in NC Universities because it is an animal disease.
I'm glad I'm not him. He must be having absolutely no fun at all in the dungeons of Egypt along about now. I could probably withstand tortures that involved wearing a bra and putting a thong on my head, but it's said that they use somewhat more stringent techniques in Egypt. Which is why he should stay in custody there, not here.< shudder>
Give him a bra and send him to Gitmo.
To leave Britain, unless you're smuggled out on a private boat or plane, you have to fly commercial or go through a monitored port. It is easier to catch these (and other) thugs when you inhabit an island.
I hope they do have "good" interogation methods. I wish some of the victims relatives could fly down and ask him a few questions in a room alone with him tied up and helpless. I wonder how that would feel.
You just never know.
The Egyptian government
may be our "friend," but
grass roots Egyptians
may put this guy into a
Martha Stewart place . . .
