A man who allegedly made the bombs used in the London attacks has reportedly been detained in Egypt.
American television company ABC said the man, believed to have had a central role in making the explosive devices, had been held near Cairo and was being questioned.
'Good Morning America' said authorities believed the man had left Britain two weeks before the London explosions on July 7.
The report said authorities were eager to learn whether more than one bomb-maker had been involved and whether more bombs had been made.
Earlier, police in Britain said they wanted to speak to an Egyptian scientist, who was working on a project backed by a regional development agency.
Magdy Elnashar, who studied for a PhD at Leeds University, was also supported by Yorkshire Forward - the regional development agency.
Mr Elnashar is thought to have links to a Leeds flat being searched by anti-terrorist officers, although police have not confirmed this.
The flat is located in Hyde Park, where 600 residents were evacuated on Tuesday so police and Army experts could carry out a controlled explosion.
It is understood his connection to the flat may be totally innocent and police would simply like to speak to him as part of the wider inquiry.
Good work.
They should keep him in Egypt. Heard good things about their interrogation methods.
Cheers.
Lefties better get him some lawyers ASAP before he gives up any information.
Agreed.
"They should keep him in Egypt. Heard good things about their interrogation methods."
Agree totally.
Apparently went to college briefly in the U.S.A...where he took CHEMISTRY as major.
Here come senators, Kennedy, Durbin, and Kerry to make sure that one of their own isnt tortured in the process.
GREAT! Now torture him/it, then when we got all the info we need, BEHEAD HIM/IT. Seems to work for them.
But wouldn't that invalidate his beingness?
The left should be pleased this time.
One of the participants in the first World Trade Center bombings (1993) was a US educated chemical engineer.
Tie him to a post in Trafalgar Square and let the people of London at him.
From the ABC story:
!The FBI had also joined the search for Elnashar because he attended North Carolina State University in 2000."

Scotland Yard seems to be living up to it's fame.
Excellent, sounds like MI6 is on it now. If the government took the handcuffs off MI6, this could get even more interesting in coming days.

Thanks...amazing isn't it, that what makes us so great is used to attempt to destroy us...
