Texans and guns a good match

CONROE - Seven members of the Houston Texans got a chance to be FBI agents for a day.

The FBI also gave players a chance to shoot at targets from 15 yards away with a pistol and automatic weapons.

"It's every boy's dream to come out here and shoot with the FBI," punter Chad Stanley said.

Especially an automatic weapon.

"It's a weapon you'll never forget," center Todd Washington said. "It's a powerful weapon. I'm 300 pounds, and it jarred me."

Gad!

They should have one heck of defense this year, eh?

BTW re: "It's a weapon you'll never forget," center Todd Washington said. "It's a powerful weapon. I'm 300 pounds, and it jarred me."

Was he shooting a Ma-Duce offhand?

Unless I'm wrong, the standard automatic weapon of the FBI is the 9mm MP-5 SMG, which is nothing. If the 300-pound football player really wants to get jarred he should try one of the following:

M3A1 "Grease gun" (actually, if you know how to use trigger control the M3A1 is nothing)

AK-47 on full auto

M1919A4 Browning .30 cal. machine gun

M2 HB Browning .50 cal machine gun

I would have included the M60 machine gun, but I wasn't all that impressed with it.

Thompson has a little bit of a kick. Have you ever shot a BAR?

More at http://www.houstontexans.com/news/news_detail.php?PRKey=1756

The smack talking began almost immediately as players vied for an official FBI SWAT team hat, the prize for whoever hit the head of the target the most in five shots with the Glock 22 from 10 yards away.

McKinney , who began hunting when he was six and shot his first deer one year later, was the most confident of the group. He pointed out Stanley as his main competition before he took his first jab.

“The only thing he’s ever shot is a white tail deer, and even then he had someone spread its horns so it looked bigger,” McKinney said of Stanley . “The FBI is going to want to hire me after this is over.”

The punter, proudly wearing a Ted Nugent T-shirt, wasn’t fazed by the offensive lineman’s mind games.

“ McKinney ,” Stanley said, “is a paint gun specialist.”

Never a dull moment, eh?

You forgot the BAR and M60E3.

The FBI's standard auto weapon *is* either some variant of the M16 or the MP5.

Or, I will let them have a go at my seven pound .62 fusil de chasse with a patched round ball over 100 grains of Swiss black powder, that is a wake up call on a cold morning.

Browning BAR M1918, original version

Browning BAR M1922 - the light machine gun for US Cavalry

Browning BAR M1918A1, with its spiked bipod and hinged buttplate

Browning BAR M1918A2, the final and most popular version. Often was used with bipod removed

"Thompson has a little bit of a kick. Have you ever shot a BAR?"

No, unfortunately. I got to play with them, disassemble and assemble in high school and college ROTC, but when I went on active duty they were all gone.

Toward the end of my career I was temporarily assigned to an army museum, and we had in our collection a new-in-the-box BAR. I wanted very much to take it to the range, but the curator would have shot me!

Re: "Thompson has a little bit of a kick. Have you ever shot a BAR?"

I've shot both (Class-3 dealer in 1970s) and it all depends on on your experience.

Newbies find it hard to control fully auto...

BTW Echo, sadly, we cannot use fully auto in our fantasy leagues this fall...

LOL! Yea I never shot one either(BAR)... I have shot a Thompson, and its not that it kicks so much but its hard to control upward recoil. So i guess you can say that it kicks... Not in the pushing sense put it likes to rise when ya shoot it.

The BAR is actually a comfortable rifle to fire if you hold it in to your shoulder, either standing or prone with the bipod.

It's 30/06 wasn't sure how that would feel :D Although it is a HEAVY rifle guess that helps.

About the most fun I ever had wearing clothes was the day we were getting ready to turn in our Browning .30 cal. machine guns for new stuff. We had all this .30 cal. ammo that the old man didn't want to turn in, so we put it downrange. I don't know how many belts I went through by myself. Hoo-ah!
