GOP asks: Why did security funds go to Democratic areas?
The Star Ledger via NJ.com | July 14, 205 | Rick Hepp

Republicans yesterday called on Attorney General Peter Harvey to explain why his office distributed 93 percent of state homeland security equipment grant money to towns in Democratic legislative districts over the past three years.

Senate Minority Leader Leonard Lance (R-Hunterdon) said the attorney general must release the criteria used to award towns in Democratic-controlled districts $21.3 million while giving towns in Republican districts just $1.6 million.

"Mr. Harvey owes all of us an explanation," said Lance. "He needs to assure the people of New Jersey that everything is being done to protect them regardless of which party represents them in the Legislature."

"Officials representing Harvey and acting Gov. Richard Codey remained tight-lipped..." unlike some of the preceding occupants of the governor's office.

It's good to see the Democratic Party returning to its historic roots of bribes, graft, and corruption.

And people have the audacity to ask, "WHAT IS WRONG WITH WASHINGTON"?? The problem is they are not doing their job and have not been for a long time -- they are more interested in getting re-elected than they are running the United States!!!!

No suprise here.

I would be interested in knowing how many of the cities that got homeland defense money are "sanctuary cities" for illegal immigrants.

I'd think that the answer is pretty obvious. I'll bet the Democrat areas are like Mos Eisley, "You'll never find a more wretched hive of scum and villany."

As long as there are Democrats, there will be corruption. It is unbelievable.

What is the percentage of population in the same areas? Do 95% of the people live in those democratic controlled districts?

I doubt it. The majority of funding probably goes to urban areas, as they are densely populated and thus are the most likely targets of terrorism. Voters in urban areas tend to lean Democrat. Hence, the discrepancy.

Peter Harvery should be jailed by the Fed immediately.

The source seems to indicate that it's New Jersey.

Without seeing which counties and townships the money went to this story is meaningless. Places like Newark, Jersey City, and the rest of the Jersey waterfront are heavily Democratic and represent potential targets. this would include Newark airport, the Jersey refinery and chemical plant corridor and the Amtral and commuter RR exits from Manhattan's Penn Station. The same situation may also hold true for the southern Jersey areas on the Delaware, bordering Philly. There are not a lot of clear targets in God's country places like Monmouth County.

Is there party patronage? Of course, but there's also the real world. Untill the actual funding figures are made known or printed, ther's not much to rant about.

I'd say the answer is that the RAT areas all full of crooks, hence the greater need for "security."

I'd suppose I'd be for this if we could just put a wall around the RAT areas and turn them into prisons. It would be more efficient to cut out the middleman (cops and courts). Just kidding!

This article refers to the distribution of Homeland Security funds in the state of New Jersey. So we're talking about Trenton, not Washington.

"The majority of funding probably goes to urban areas, as they are densely populated and thus are the most likely targets of terrorism."

I see no fault in what you say. Some times folks seem to knee jerk without thinking. Me included.
