raining like hell here, I think that high is greatly over rated. Houston area is in a serious low. I would almost think tropical low, if I didn't know any better.

I hope it doesn't make it there. I know I am about sick of hurricanes and it is just the beginning of the season!

All big storms go through eyewall replacements. It can happen several times depending on how long the storm lives.

I'm tempted to make a witty comment, but hurricanes often replace their eyewalls as part of getting better organized.

It temporarily weakens them, but almost always leads to increased strengthening over the long term unless other factors intervene.

We have a low that developed a little above Houston (in the last couple of days). The local weather guys keep talking about the ridge reestablishing but geeezzz they've been talking about that for a wk now.

Someone is predicting a cat 5 hitting Galveston over at Eastern US Weather Forums ... I think he was kidding though...

Relax, it's only a hurricane LOL LOL

I slept through it, but there is evidence it rained here last night. I have no idea how much.

Well I'm glad you finally got something.
When I got up this morning, I thought maybe I should start planning a shopping list of things to pick up at Home Depot or Lowe's.
BTW, do you know of any good websites with plans on how to build your own ark?

It actually rained here at my house pretty hard for about half an hour this afternoon although it's mostly gone now.

You don't need an ark as much as you need batteries if Emily comes calling to our neck of the woods. You can pretty much count on losing power for several days because of all the trees snapping. And unless you find a battery powered air conditioner at Home Depot, it's not going to be a fun few days. It's like camping in hell.

Just an FYI for south Texans.

Stores are getting crowded with hurricane shoppers.
Plywood lines are already formed at lumber supply stores.
Our list of homes to board is growing steadily as our phone keeps ringing.

Do not wait to do your own preperations. The crowds of shoppers will get worse and supplies will dwindle quickly.

Here is a great link

http://orca.rsmas.miami.edu/wximages/jet/1_05/anis.html

You can see the low building from Ohio to Brownsville and the explosion of energy in Galveston/Houston. I think folks in La or maybe even Fla pan handle need to start paying attention. Also you can see a shape turn north and then a turn west, Enily is having a hard time making up her mind. But if that low establishes itself then we might dodge Emily. That Fla Hurricane magnet might have been turned no.
