Father Ray Larger Indicted On Rape, Sex Charges
LAST UPDATE: 7/13/2005 4:48:16 PM
A Catholic priest with the archdiocese of Cincinnati has been indicted on six counts, including rape, in connection with alleged assaults on a boy between 1995 and 1997. The boy, who was under 13 at the time, is now 21 years old. The first acts allegedly occurred when the boy was 11 years old, lasting until he was 13.
Father Raymond Larger was indicted Wednesday and has turned himself in. Larger was ordained in 1977. He was pastor at St. James in White Oak for 11 years. That's where the assaults allegedly occurred in the parish office.
Larger was later transferred to Our Lady of Visitation. The archdiocese became aware of the charges against Larger when the young man filed a claim as part of the Archdiocese's compensation fund. The Archdiocese turned the information over to prosecutors, resulting in the indictment Wednesday. The victim, now 21, lives in the Hamilton, Ohio area.
Larger is charged with three counts of rape, two counts of sexual battery, and one count of gross sexual imposition, all involving the same victim.
This is not the first time Father Raymond Larger has been in the news. On July 23rd, 2003, Larger was arrested for soliciting an undercover male police officer for sex in a Dayton Ohio park. He was at Our Lady of Visitation in Green Township at that time. He pleaded no contest to two misdemeanor public indecency charges, fined 100 dollars and placed on probation for one year. He was stripped of his priestly duties and placed on administrative leave.
An article in the Catholic Telegraph indicates he was reinstated to active ministry on May 17th, 2004 and placed in residence at St Peter in Chains Cathedral.
The Archdiocese of Cincinnati announced Wednesday, it was placing Larger on administrative leave, calling the move the strongest move a diocesan bishop can take.
More like Our Lady of Visitation in your A**.
The Catholic Church needs to to purge themselves absolutely of this plague. Yesterday.
Administrator please change the title to Cincinnati Priest indicted by grand jury
Thanks

The first article of the infallible Nicene Council, the first ecumenical council after Jerusalem, declares that those "who cause grave scandal" (by which was probably meant sexual abuse) should never be permitted priestly functions again. Forgiveness is not the issue.
This is the first one to hit close to home for me, Saint James has been my parish for 35 years.
Finally they are doing it right and turning this scum out right away rather than transfering and hiding these sickos. IMHO the culture war exists inside the church as well with conservatives trying to shut down the liberal "Pink palaces" that our seminaries have become.
AMEN!
