The Unhinged Minority

by Pat Sajak
Posted Jul 12, 2005

Back in the decades when the Democrats were the majority party, the rules were simple: the Dems ruled and the GOP sat on the back benches and generally behaved itself. Oh, they moaned and groaned about activist judges and profligate spending and such, but the Republicans knew they were the losers and they would have to rebuild their party if that were ever going to change.

Well, it did change, and it changed big time. And now, suddenly, the rules are different. In attempting to govern the way majority parties have always governed, Republicans are painted as power-mad fiends eager to turn back the clock on all the social progress this nation has enjoyed under the “enlightened” rule of the Democrats. It’s more power they want, and they’ll stop at nothing to get it! Despite having lost the Presidency, both houses of Congress, the majority of Governorships and an increasing number of state legislatures, Democrats seem to have convinced themselves they are the victims of some massive evil scheme.

They act as if they are still the majority party whose rights are being trampled by a herd of rogue elephants. They’re like a professional boxer who is KO’d by his opponent only to argue he should win on points. So they obstruct, they accuse, they flail about wildly hoping something—anything—will get those ignorant voters to see the error of their ways and return the world to the way it was meant to be.

Every loss is the fault of outside forces instead of the candidates and their messages. Elections are stolen, they are bought by special interests, or they are manipulated by sneaky, conniving Republicans who have become experts at pulling the wool over voters’ eyes. The Democratic Party is apparently suffering from a mirror shortage. There’s no other way to explain their cluelessness as to whom to blame for the electoral realignment in America.

And so they go on and on about a majority party which has the temerity to govern according to the precepts which made it a majority party in the first place. They rant about the lack of bipartisanship as if they had cornered the market on olive branches, while spouting some of the most partisan bile heard in Washington in decades. And, as they become more wild-eyed and maniacal, they turn off more and more voters who can only figure out what they’re against (anything President Bush is for) while wondering what they’re in favor of (other than returning them to power). The Democrats are simply not a viable alternative for most “centrists”.

It’s a vicious circle that promises to keep the GOP in a majority position for a long time to come. I suppose that’s good news for Republicans. But it’s still painful to watch.

The have the media and they have the teachers. Indoctrination gives them the edge at denying reality to the masses.

The GOP has to start acting like winners, the judge issue will be their downfall if W picks some middle of the road lib. The whole reason they have power is because of social issues that are tearing society apart. It's all about the judges but we have become a nation of the lawyers, by the lawyers and for the lawyers so I have little faith in anything changing.

Luckily, the Dems seem immune to good advice.

Liberal Political Correctness is not about persuading Americans that they have a better plan for the world. The issues have already been decided by their intellectuals and everybody will HAVE to sign onto their program sooner or later.

If we have disagreement with them over whether abortion is murder it is too bad. That question is irrelevant to them. Abortion is here and it "always" will be.

If we have disagreement with them over whether a person should be able to pay for private health care (even if there is also a publicly funded health care system) it is too bad. A two-tiered system would only point out the flaws in the socialist program. Eliminate the private industry and the plan that "everyone" is in would get more focus.

They have a god-complex and "know" that they have arrived at all of the "right" answers to life's problems.

If voters elect conservatives in the light of Democrats' policies, it "must" be because of (A)theft, (B) ignorance and bigotry (there were many articles that claimed that poor voters went Republican despite it being "bad" for them), (C) harassment (voters elligiblity called into question), (D) focusing on a single issue (don't dare question any element of political correctness, YOU are wrong if you only agree with 65% of the agenda).

In their eyes, it certainly "can't be" because a majority really did want these people in power and to DO something with that power. The left "knows" that the majority of this country supports them just as sure as they "know" that they have all of the right positions on the issues.

Powerhungry vampires hate mirrors.

Darn right! They had better start acting like winners and govern as to by the PEOPLE. These guys (of all parties) seem to think once they get their jobs that they can do whatever they want and forget who put them there and WHY!

When the Supreme Court rejects the US Constitution and defends a ruling by citing "foreign law", they have shown themselves unsuitable for the bench.

"It’s a vicious circle that promises to keep the GOP in a majority position for a long time to come."

Until the voters become sick to death of the GOP's profligate spending - which may not take long at all.

If Hitlery wins in 2008 and we have more middle of the road judges rest assured that the UN will be making up US law. It almost seems inevitable that it is going to happen no matter what because we have so many one world government types in the Senate. The US Senate is the enemy and it is near impossible to get rid of a Senator after the second term. It's like a dictatorship in the Senate because it takes so much money to run a Senate campaign and the little guy is locked out.

Sometimes we act as if we expect Democrats to behave as Republicans did when they were not in power. This is a false hope based on a political ideal that has not existed in this country since the rise of the New Left decades ago.

Because Republicans allowed a pro-abortion, anti-property rights, "living Constitution" justice in Ruth Bader Ginsburg (casting no dissenting votes in her confirmation), we act outraged with Democrats don't also give us the same courtesy, confirming a justice who stands diametrically opposed to everything the radical left has expended themselves to gain and protect.

How ridiculous. I'm sure the left thought it hilarious when Republicans nominated leftist judges as "compromise" appointments.

We need to stop acting surprised, and we need to stop compliaining. We need to fight and we need to win.

The MSM is increasingly less effective. Note the Rove hysteria. We all know Rove is going nowhere. In past he's be toast. Not only is Rove going nowhere, but so is the story. Most people are not afraid of what Rove's role was, they are just frustratingly pointing out scandal number 1245 to get Bush that is failing. It's becoming about the MSM's agenda, less about Rove.

They do own education, but if they lose the Courts they'll gradually lose their hold on the educational system. This is why the Court's have surpassed the MSM as my primary target.

To get to the Courts that protect and legislate liberalism, you had to win elections. To win elections, you had to bypass the MSM. We did that, we became the Majority, now we have a chance at the Courts. If we succeed here, the Courts can no longer protect embedded liberalism in any institution.

We had a conservative black run against Evan Bayh last year.

He got virtually no assistance from the RNC while 80% of Bayh's money came from outside the state.

70% of the voters had no idea who Marvin Scott was.

I have a liberal friend who is convinced it is the "in your face" agressiveness of Rush and other talk show hosts who are winning voters for the GOP. She thinks Rush and Hannity yell all the time and that the left needs to do this too!!!!

I told her it was content and quaility of message that is winning voters, but she is convinced that it is yelling and the left needs to do more! lol, :-) I can't make this stuff up. As long as they keep thinking this, they will keep loosing. good.
