COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP) - A Danish pizzeria owner was jailed Tuesday for refusing to serve French and German tourists in protesting their countries' opposition to the U.S.-led war in Iraq. A Danish court found Aage Bjerre guilty of discrimination and fined him $900. Bjerre refused to pay, and will now serve an eight-day sentence.
"I'm doing it to show my sympathy with the United States. It shows how seriously I mean it," he told The Associated Press by telephone. "But one should also remember that eight days is a small price to pay when American soldiers go to Iraq and risk their limbs and lives."
In February 2003, before the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq, Bjerre posted two signs barring Germans and French from his pizzeria on Denmark's western island of Fanoe. His refusal to serve them drew criticism in this Scandinavian country, where the government supported the war while its citizens were split.
The 46-year-old received hundreds of fan letters from the United States, but had to sell the pizzeria after repeated vandalism and a large drop in sales.
He is bringing a photograph of President Bush and Laura Bush, as well as an American flag, to decorate the walls of his prison cell: "I think that will brighten up the room," he said.

Good news...
One of the biggest terrorists / cowards in the world, Yasser Arafat are in critical condition. So there are hope for early peace in the Middle East.
So much for the right to refuse service to anyone.
My brother in law is a Dane and there is currently a strong political movement within Denmark to reform immigration laws within the country. I can't remember the political party that he affiliates himself with, but it would probably be close to a Libertarian crossed with a Republican with some Socialist healthcare thrown in.
What's funny is that even though Scandinavia is considered the model for European Socialism, my sister had to pass a Danish language exam just to get a work permit. It took her over a year in Danish immersion class to pass the test. Compare that to Woodburn, Hillsboro, or Forest Grove, Oregon where the school districts are going broke and most downtown business signs are in Spanish.
It's nice for a change to see someone who likes us. I hope he will be allowed into the U.S., but since he is not from Latin America, I fear he will have to wait for many, many years.

Homosexual marriage (I'm against...)
A marriage is between a man and a woman who love each other and has decide to start a family with children.
Homosexual people must understand that here is something they can not be a part of.
Children have some rights... A FATHER and a MOTHER...
What will the next be if homosexual can getting married:
A man and his brother/sister???
A man and his dog, cow etc.???
A man and a child???
A man and his car???... Hey, can I use your wife... Yes, it is the white BMW outside... Oh no, a german vife. (LOL!)
And what about if a homosexual will be a President... A President and the first man... Uhhhh...
No, if homosexual will ask God about marriage they should go to the church and say a prayer... Dear God, make me normal. (now, there's a concept!)
And he wants to be an American someday. Can we make him an honorary American for now?
If you could enlarge it, I could have my sister or brother in law translate it. Freepmail me.
I may have to take the family to Denmark for vacation this year just to pick up some Pizza.
Many thanks; now if I could only get the model wearing it...(note to self - hide this post from Mrs decal...)
And he wants to be an American someday.Sounds like he already is an American. He just needs the papers to prove it.
I'm thinking we should deport a few illegals to make room for him and his business. Knock down a few taquerias here, as I'm sure his business will bring in more tax revenue than one run under the radar by illegals.
It'll never happen, though. He's too patriotic, and we all know government cannot endorse patriotism. It's a penumbra of an emanation of the right to free liberal speech.
Well I'll be... I've never heard of that. That's really fun.
It is awesome - come on over and send an e.
Looks like some DUtards posted to the guestbook. The hate America crowd knows no bounds.
I love the Danes -- this 46 year old especially. Bless him.
