NAACP to target private business (Reparation Extortion)
Washington Times ^ | 7/12/05 | Brian DeBose

Posted on 07/12/2005 5:05:11 AM PDT by lowbridge

The NAACP will target private companies as part of its economic agenda, seeking reparations from corporations with historical ties to slavery and boycotting companies that refuse to participate in its annual business diversity report card.

"Absolutely, we will be pursuing reparations from companies that have historical ties to slavery and engaging all parties to come to the table," Dennis C. Hayes, interim president and chief executive officer of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, said yesterday at the group's 96th annual convention here.

"Many of the problems we have now including poverty, disparities in health care and incarcerations can be directly tied to slavery."

The group's strategy will include a lobbying effort to encourage cities to enact laws requiring businesses to complete an extensive slavery study and submit it to the city before they can get a city contract.

Such laws exist in Philadelphia and Chicago, which can refuse to grant contracts because of a company's slavery ties although neither city has done this. Detroit and New Orleans are considering similar bills.

"We need legislation with teeth," Adjoa Aiyetoro, professor at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock's school of law, said during a session on reparations.

She said two banks trying to do business with Chicago have recently apologized for their role in slavery and promised to make amends by offering scholarships to blacks and money for other education projects that benefit blacks.

J.P. Morgan Chase Bank recently completed an examination of its history and found that two financial institutions it absorbed years ago -- Citizens Bank and Canal Bank in Louisiana -- had owned more than 1,250 black people until the Civil War, procured as collateral on defaulted loans.

Jesse never fails to astound me with his in your face activities.

Jesse has been doing this for decades. He just never announced it publicly to anybody except the bank president or the newspaper publisher he was meeting with. It was basically a "give us money or we'll boycott you" message. It worked.

Did they not boycott some state only to see their business increase?

Yes they did. Here in South Carolina the NAACP fought to get the Confederate flag removed from the state capitol dome. They won but it still wasn't good enough for them, so they instituted the boycott. This proves that giving in to them gets you nowhere and nothing. State tourism is doing great. As boycotts go, it's a complete failure. Like the rest of the left.

I think the government should give $1,000,000,000.00 to every black person who can prove he was a slave before the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863.

Oh. Not just for the "domestic agenda"; but for those still supporting the UN and the ICC. Got it...

If they want to sue the ones responsible for these problems they need to sue the Democrats for setting up the "plantation mentality" to garner votes. Welfare has destroyed the incentive of many people on it to get work and know the self respect that comes with providing for ones self. It is passed on from generation to generation. It destroys the need for a man to be the provider for his family and has caused many single parent families which leads to all kinds of problems for children who grow up without a strong male example to emulate. A son learns to be a good man from his father. A daughter learns that she is loved and respected from her father so she doesn't have to seek her need to be loved in all the wrong places. Welfare had for years encouraged single moms to have more children to garner more free money per child. Yes, it is the Democrat's need for people to be dependent on them through public welfare programs in order to make sure they keep getting these dependents votes that has caused the problems for people of all colors in this country. Sue them, if you must sue. The great society has been one colossal and costly flop. To help the poor we need to start by making people work, which, thank God, we have largely done and also by providing the technical education for those who are serious so that they can get better jobs. Give a man a fish and you have given him food for the day. Give him a pole and show him how to fish and you have fed him for a life time. At the heart and bottom of this issue is also a return to God so that the inspiration for a decent life comes from the one who can really change hearts.

Maybe we need a boycott of black businesses.

I'll boycott any business with connections to the NAACP and/or the reparations movement.

Two now on my list:  J.P. Morgan Chase Bank and Wachovia Corp.

"Many of the problems we have now including poverty, disparities in health care and incarcerations can be directly tied to slavery."

MOST of the problems we have now are caused by people who have been told by their leaders from the beginning of life that everything bad in the black community is because "the man" holds them back. Many dont have health care because they dont want to work, and most get incarcerated because they break the law. It isnt tied to slavery its tied to the belief that they are due entitlements .Like an entitlement and a job are a Constitutional right.

If they want to sue the ones responsible for these problems they need to sue the Democrats for setting up the "plantation mentality" to garner votes.

From the article:

The Rev. Wayne Perryman of Mount Calvary Christian Center Church of God in Christ agreed that pursuing the federal government is not a fruitful option. The Seattle minister has filed two reparations lawsuits against the Democratic Party, saying its role in defending slavery and opposing civil rights bills during the Jim Crow era deserves an apology.
"One of the problems in courts is that ... you have to show ... the government official who participated in it," Mr. Perryman said. "With the federal government the real problem is that it has never had a totally pro-slavery position, the Democrats did and supported it, while the abolitionists and Republicans did not."

Who is divisive? Who is trying to get something for nothing? These animals WILL be stopped in the courts. Can you see NOW why absolutely NO LEEWAY on Supreme Court justices must be granted? By the time this winds its way to teh high court we need to ensure that we have at least two or three more STRICT CONSTRUCTIONISTS who will not allow our laws to be violated like this. I hope this costs their communities billions and reaps nothing.

Yes to that AND any company that willingly signs up to pay such reparations should be boycotted too. Never allow black-mail or extortion.

WRONG. They are caused by a destructive culture of death, lack of morals, total disrespect for education, hard work, and respect for self and others. Caused by groupthink that insists that no personal responsibility for shortcomings should be assumed. CAUSED by the NAACP, Jesse and Al, and everyone who blames others instead of doing what is necessary to change from within.

So, Rev Perryman filed two Reparations lawsuits against the Democrats is only deserving of an "apology"? Or did the Reverend demand financial REPARATIONS from the Democrat Party? Do you know?

Did the Democrats apologize, or give Rev Perry "walking money"? ? ? Haven't heard squat about his "reparations lawsuits" against the Democrats...

The race-baiting pimps are just making sure MLK's 'dream' cannot become anyone's reality until all the reparations have been paid.
