So true, and thanks.

On a side note, I rented this

All You Need To Know About Biological & Chemical Attack

September 11, 2001 marked the beginning of a new era in which all of us face a new level of terrorist threats-including the use of deadly biological and chemical weapons. But, with proper preparation, all of us can protect our loved ones and ourselves. Protect Your Family is a unique educational guide that helps you understand the dangers posed by a non-conventional weapons and teaches you how to deal with them-including complete step-by-step instructions for detecting an attack, giving first-aid, purchasing and using protective gear and creating an effective shelter in your home and workplace.

Genre: Adult & Continuing Ed.
Studio: Tapeworm Dist.

from Family Pass...my online DVD rental place. I just finished watching it. It had some great ideas for those not already in the know, but I was disappointed to note a total lack of instruction on personal and property protection. There were some interesting ideas for the pets, though. Important to me since we added to our family by four paws yesterday.

A 10 week old rat terrier named Cookie. Cute and already totally spoiled! Not to mention a really good watchdog, and not a yapper. I don't like yap-dogs.

I have 4 Rat Terriers. They love to snuggle and sleep under the covers. They will yap as necessary.

Top picture is our female Ceri with puppy Ella. Another puppy follows. The pair of pups are Chewie (left) and Jasper (right). Jasper and Chewie climb a couple of our pine trees to the 6 foot level to peer over the fence. Ceri will follow a laser pointer spot all over the yard. That is a great way to give them vigorous exercise.

CHRISTIAN WORKERS SHOWING THE JESUS FILM MURDERED IN BANGLADESH

By Michael Ireland
Chief Correspondent, ASSIST News Service

BANGLADESH (ANS) -- Two men involved in health awareness programs and who were showing the JESUS film, were killed July 29 in Faridpur, Bangladesh. Strong outrage has been voiced at their murders, and Bengali Christians are planning a rally in support of their families.

Lipial Marandi (21) and Tapan Kumar Roy (27) were employed with Christian Life Bangladesh, a partner agency of Campus Crusade for Christ, and had spent the last eight months providing health awareness programs to locals and showing the JESUS film.

The men had received threats that they would be killed if they continued their work, and local police say the men were sleeping when intruders entered their rented house at 2 a.m. and stabbed them to death. So far, police have arrested two men in connection with the killings.

"We express our deepest sympathies to the families of Lipial and Tapan," said Thomas Abraham, vice president of Asia Campus Crusade for Christ. "We are saddened by the hatred of those who would commit such acts of violence."

This is the second murder of Christian Life Bangladesh workers. In April, 2003, Hridoy Roy was killed in a similar incident. The perpetrators of Hridoy's murder were never convicted.

"We are seeing an increased trend towards persecution of Christians in Bangladesh, and the Christian community in America is concerned," said Abraham. "We urge the Bengali government to bring the murderers to justice and uphold the Bangladesh constitution which protects religious freedom."

The Bengali Christian community and several newspapers have voiced strong outrage toward these murders. Bengali Christians plan to hold a rally to voice their sympathy toward the families of those murdered as well as a show of unity in these difficult circumstances. A memorandum from the Christian community will be sent to the Bangladesh Prime Minister urging immediate and just action be taken.

I need to amend something I posted yesterday.

I've been struck by the specific ranges given by both UBL last fall and Zawahiri a couple days ago (both specifically threatened "tens of thousands") and how, combined with accounts that the 9/11 attack was also "calibrated", you could make the argument that they are aiming for this specific casualty range. While it probably requires WMD, this specific range (if truly their goal) would narrow down the possibilities somewhat.

There are more targets on weekdays than weekends or weeknights, so it is natural to assume that if they manage to pull the trigger on WMD, they will go for broke and seek to maximize casualties. Otherwise, what is the point? But if you accept the first argument (that the specific focus on a casualty range by both UBL and Zawahiri indicate not just a minimum count they are trying to achieve, but they also may have a ceiling as to what they perceive as "overkill risk"), then the second argument (more likely on weekdays than weeknights or weekends) is undercut. This is where I went wrong yesterday.

While they can achieve their objectives on a weekday, it is also entirely feasible to achieve this specific casualty range on a weeknight or a weekend. (if you assume their goal is a range and not simple maximization) The target would be different on a weekend or weeknight, but their stated goal is still achievable.

I still think the 8/5 to 9/11 timeframe is high (or highest) risk, but I was off-base on the target(s). It is just as likely to be one or more major sports events, religious services, concerts, or large shopping malls on a weeknight or weekend as it is likely to be major office buildings, convention centers, or large schools/universities on a weekday.

The method to achieve this range is probably WMD. A small nuclear device could be used if they change their pattern and go for a singular rather than a multiple attack. But even if the multiple nuclear targets were realistic (and for operational and security reasons, they would have a hard time pulling off 3-4, let alone 30-40), if it worked, the casualties would almost certainly exceed 100,000 unless they popped them in the middle of the night. And again, what would be the point of that?

Chemical could hit the range (if they got it to work) but that might be hard to do. Radiological would probably not. High explosive might (a la 9/11), but that would be difficult. Biological could not be calibrated easily, and it (in this specific instance) would have to be non-transmissible (anthrax, ricin).

So the likely methods to get to 10,000-99,999 casualties are:

1) multiple chem
2) non-transmissible bio
3) single small nuke

I may still "revise and extend my remarks" as I continue to mull this one over.

I agree that weekends are a risk. I will feel a lot better in ten minutes time when we have passed 8.15a.m EST today! (August 6th).

I don't think it will happen at night though as the visual impact isn't as great.

The other plus about weekends is that people are at home watching their T.V. On 9/11 it was hours before I got to see my T.V because I was at work.

I had a nice chat with a fellow from Montana yesterday. He says he sold his property there because all the Arab billionaires are buying out the American millionaires in Montana and Wyoming.

He was from near Yellowstone.

Kind of makes you wonder and at the same time it makes me sooooo mad because I've always thought of those areas as the last stand for our country whether it be terrorists or illegals!!!

Anyone from that area able to confirm or deny this info?

I'm throwing in my thoughts on how it would be set up.

One way to maximize visibility is to get the cameras on a location first, then carry off the attack. On 9/11, all cameras were trained on the WTC after the first plane hit, and we got several horrific angles on the second plane. Likewise, they may set off some smaller (relatively speaking) device, just enough to generate a "Fox News Alert" (which doesn't take much, these days - just make a pretty blonde disappear), wait an hour, then trigger the main device. I wouldn't be surprised if they have figured out just what to do to get cameras pointed at the right spot, and even at the right level of zoom, such as looking out over a skyline.

So even any event that gets publicity could be the precursor to the large attack, especially if, as CallMeJoe has suggested, that attack is calibrated to a particular number of casualties in a particular location.
