Dang! You beat me to posting this one!
"The June surplus grew to $9.68 billion..."
Their surplus is miniscule compared to our deficit.
..offering more ammunition for foreign critics who argue that Beijing should let the yuan rise in value...
------
And Washington just fiddles while the trade deficit burns...
We have only just begun to get the benefits from free trade. We still have a few manufacturing jobs in America that are done by overpaid American citizens. Even in 2005, almost 1 in 10 American workers still actually produce something . Sooner or later all the overpayed American auto workers, office workers, insurance processors, those that work in billing, claims, call centers, accounting, etc will replaced by chinese.
The trade deficit with china will go much higher, since we still have lots of jobs to move over there, and there is nothing that we produce that the chinese want to buy.
When the false value of the Chinese currency is opened up, so its no longer artificially tied to the dollar at nearly 1 to 1, enjoy watching all those "cheap" chinese goods jump up in price.....

5 years from now, we'll all be driving around in ugly little egg-shaped Chinese cars that will look just like the ugly little egg-shaped Japanese and Korean cars that we drive around in today.
And the Chicoms are gobbling up gas and oil all over the world at today's premium prices, while making these fantastic profits. Who said slavery was a bad idea?
ammunition = blanks when China wants to make not buy. Our competitive advantage is to export factories and dollars which are used to buy America. Raising the value of the Yuan will give China more bang for our buck.
When will people wake up to the facts about WMT. THose every-day-low-prices has a long term effect.
I don't usually shop there, but I'm going to start now.
BTTT
ChiComs get to buy some more of our oil companies with the US dollars they're raking in...
How retarded is it to think that our humongous trade deficits are not suicidal?
Not everything in Walmart is made in China! Furthermore, shopping at Walmart drives the libs batty!
More crying and trying to place blame on others by our politicians, blaming a low yuan. They are starting to remind me of Euro politicians who try to blame America for all their problems.
China's total imports in 2005 - 560 billion dollars.
China's total exports in 2005 - 590 billion dollars.
Hardly sounds like a nation with an undervalued currency.
Let's see, I've forgotten: the Chinese don't have a Bill of Rights or basic human freedoms, do they? They re-educate Christians, right? How is sending them so much capital different from buying cotton from the antebellum South?
The hydrogen bombs they have directed our way carry the legends: "Thanks to W-M, KMart, Target et al and US shoppers!" "Your shopping days are now over!" "Thanks again to the Clintons for the high tech secrets you gave us that made us possible!" "Goodbye round-eyed devils!"
"Keep shopping at wal-mart folks."
No, this is GOOD for America. I'm not exactly sure how but some very economically astute Freepers have assured me it is so. They seem to be the same folks who are pro CAFTA/NAFTA/ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION.
