Many FReepers were in the path of Hurricane Dennis--please check in to let us know you are safe.
Relieved to hear that you are safe--and your air conditioning is working. Welcome back.
Mmmmm...wondering when will we share a steak dinner with you again... ;o)
I'm too far away to get the actual hurricane, but we're getting the "remnants" (i.e., the rain) probably tomorrow. The weather guessers in my neighborhood say the rainfall will be nothing like Ivan floods which wiped out some of our small towns.
I didn't read all the posts, but it looks like prayers have been answered and that our Freepers and just about everyone else are safe and/or accounted for. Easy for me to say, but that's the main thing -- you can replace a roof, but you can't replace a life.
Ok, I'm at work now.
Power and phones still out in Santa Rosa County. We took the hit, however there is very little residential structural damage in my neighborhood even with the significant tree damage.
Those winds of the eyewall were AWESOME! Then there was calm and all the neighbors came out to assess damage, then the widns reversed and we all sought shelter again.
Things along Hwy 90 Pace and Milton are bad. Lots of FHP adn FNG to help.
No, this wasn't Ivan, but the damage is still astonishing.
Hopefully we'll have gasoline, electricity and phone service again real soon.
Does that mean you would do it again?
Great to have you back. Thank goodness you are safe; home and property are intact.
Thanks for your thoughts.
We heard the choo-choo...Yes, I'd do it again. And may get the chance very soon!
No major property damage. Our fence tipped over and we lost the awning off the deck. We live in a new brick house and it was built to withstand 130mph winds. Thank GOD Dennis was downgraded just before making landfall. The phone lines are down, but DSL just came back up.
Great to have you back! Glad to hear damage is relatively minor. Thank you for checking in--we've been anxiously waiting to hear from you.
Thanks. Didn't see the aftermath thread or I would have posted there. :)
Thank you all for your concern. Most of Navarre fared pretty well, but Navarre beach was pounded. Our neighborhood lost a couple of fences, but all of the homes survived with minimal damage. Now we're bracing for Emily....arrgh
We got some much need rain here in Illinois from the remnants of what was hurricane Dennis. Hope everyone is OK down South, and that the cleanup/power restoration/etc/ goes smoothly.

So sad about this HI - Navarre Beach is my all-time favorite beach for vacation and we were really hoping it would be back for next spring vacation. These poor folks are taking such a pounding. :o(
The bridge to Navarre Beach is still closed, but from what I hear they really took a beating.
Thanks for the updates.
Regards,
TS
Glad to know you made the trip to NOLA safely.
I hate to say next weekend but you never really know!!
