Whitehall needs a wakeup call. If its accepted there are 1.6 million Muslims living in the U.K and 1% of them are extremists, there could be 16,000 Islamic terrorists operating in the British Isles. This is a worrisome development and the complacency, myopia, and indiffidence of British authorities in the face of this phenomenon all but guarantee more terrorism is in the offing in the future.

The report’s policy recommendations are also interesting, such as the one (from pdf 1, p. 8) urging the importance “to persuade the public and the media that Muslims are not the enemy within.” A shallow attempt to muzzle the public from making anti-Muslim remarks or writing anti-Muslim articles.
