The choice is: Russia, Chinese (maybe), Venezualan and Saudi gas: who's the worst for America?
I think you're right. I was up doing office work most of the night, 2 hours of sleep just doesn't help much. The coffee didn't help, I'm still in a daze.
Who knows, maybe the new Chinese Chevy's will run better on Chinese gas?
".....Ford and Chrystel (?) SUVs are popular there...."
And what percentage of the average Russian citizen can actually own one?
"....have actually cut the size of government..."
Could that be because they can't afford to maintain an accountable military? Didn't we give them 60B a few years ago pay their troops so that the higher-ups wouldn't sell off nuclear devices etc to feed their families?
There is no way that they have improved their economy as much as you claim. Sure, there may be a few Americans that have landed good jobs as execs over there, but I seriously doubt that is the norm. If they're so affluent now, how come they still haven't paid us back for all the wheat we "sold" (gave) them?
Crime is rampant, AIDS is raging, a very high percentage of their prisoners are dying from TB, those than afford good medical treatment come to the U.S. to have the surgeries and the list is long for those wishing to get out and move to America. Have you ever visited West Sacramento? It's practically all Russian immigrants! Believe me, I know many from there and they are ever-so-greatful to be in this country.
I hope you're not going to be working for one of the companies that are supplying Syria, Iran and China etc. with weapons technology, nuclear subs and such? Money isn't everything.
I REALLY do hope this job works out for you, comrade.
"The enlightened one...." Thank you.
You say potatoe and I say potato. Obviously, we don't agree on a lot of things.
"I wonder how someone could be such a good cook if potatoes is all they have to work with."
There 17,000 ways to prepare potatoes and make them taste good and I'm sure your wife is a great cook.
"I also wonder how they are going to feel flying in the Boeing 787 and 747 Advanced, when they learn the planes were designed in Boeings Moscow design center."
Probably pretty safe, considering that Boeing is an American owned company (for now) and the planes had to be designed to our high standards.
I'm sorry if I offended you and Jb6, but I just can't bring myself to kiss any Russian butt. Maybe yor thoughts about them will change when they join China in a war against the U.S.

"Shall we sell our utility companies to the Saudis next?"
Sure, all you have to do is make the appropriate cash donation to either one of the dominant political parties or to the Washington lobbyist of your choice.
There is no way that they have improved their economy as much as you claim
Really? Funny, the CIA World Fact book rather disagrees with you. By Purchasing Power Parity, they now have the 6th largest economy, surpassing the Italians this year. At the rate of growth, they'll pass the French next year and the British the year after. True, Germany will take another 5-8 years but the Germans are a dear and are shrinking their economy to make it easier.
AIDS is not that rampent, compared to the Soviet times, sure, but the soviets said it didn't exist. Crime? There is, but again, way over blown. Been there plenty of times, never bothered. My wife is from there and has never been mugged/robbed (can't say that for NC where my neighbor's house was broken into, my car robbed, etc in a middle class neighborhood...oh and it only took the cops 1 hour to respond from their substation 3 miles away).
I hope you're not going to be working for one of the companies that are supplying Syria, Iran and China etc. with weapons technology, nuclear subs and such?
No I'm not, I'm aiming at one of those companies that keeps your SUV running.
Oh and I'm not your comrade or anyones, thank you very much. If you want to use a word use: gospodin.
In fact, Lukoil isn't the first Russian company to purchase an American one, operation in the US market. Severstal' ("Northen Steel") bought an American steel company a year or two ago.
No wonder. They have enough money and expect to make more in American market - a wider and a more secure one.
