NEW DELHI: This one's straight out of Ripley's Believe It Or Not. Five-year-old Tanishk Boyas took his three-year-old cousin Himanshu, who was hurt in a fall, to a hospital and got him treated.
There's more. Tanishk drove Himanshu there in a Maruti van.
Staff at the Mayur Vihar Phase-I hospital almost fell off their chairs when they saw Tanishk bring his cousin in. Himanshu was discharged after an overnight stay at the hospital on Saturday.
The sequence of events began with Himanshu falling through an air vent left open on the first floor of his house.
Tanishk promptly picked him up with his sister's help and placed him in the van. He then drove to the hospital where Himanshu had been taken before for check-ups. Himanshu's father Vinod Boyas was at work while his mother was asleep.
Tanishk had learnt to drive over the past three months. His father, Ravi Chand, had given in to his son's 'persistence'.
"He used to watch me drive and grasped the basics. I allowed him to drive, but only when accompanied by an elder. This is the first time he has driven unattended," Chand said.
"It is a miracle that our son has not sustained many injuries. Tanishk acted as the saviour," said Vinod, Himnashu's father.
Tanishk and Himanshu live in the same house at Rajbir Colony, Mayur Vihar phase-III. The family owns a dairy.
"I like playing cricket and computer games besides driving, said Tanishk. One can only wonder whether his skills at cricket and computers are as well developed.

:)
Why was Mommy sleeping whilst a 5 and 3-year old were playing?
"Whatever happened to simply waking Mommy in an emergency?"
Perhaps the sister didn't bleed. My wife will sometimes tell the kids "unless there's fire or blood involved - don't disturb me".
Might need to explain that a little more to the little ones!
Exactly. (I figured the question was implicit.)
LOL! But I bet your wife never said it to a five-year old with his own set of car keys.
Hey, the kid needed some wheel time!
Nascar - how bad have you got it?
I predict this kid will do great things!

"I predict this kid will do great things!"
He may become a bootlegger driver running beef to none Hindus. Imagine ... "Smokey and the DotHead".
No...it's fire, bleeding or vomiting.
My threat is always that the fire department had better already be on the way. Call 911, THEN wake me up.
If I had money, I'd get him sent over here, teach him American ways, and make him a future NASCAR phenom.
ROTFLMAO!
I'm telling ya, the kid has a future behind the wheel - of something.

pinggggggggggggg
Bravo! These are the sort that we need to stick flaming pokers into the eyes of the 'slamists.
"Smokey and the DotHead".
Really kind of disrespectful, my friend.
A 911 operator once told me of children who dial the operator because they can't find the "11" button on the phone. Adults were inadvertently teaching them to call "9""11".
It could be any number of things. Perhaps the kids thought they were going to get in trouble so the risk of driving a car in the street was less dangerous than telling mom or dad.
How the heck did he reach the pedals????
By the way..that Maruti Van is a stick-shift! Imagine a 5 year old driving a stick-shift in Delhi traffic....forget NSACAR...get him in F1
