Keeping watch over our Troops on this Holy Day . . .God Bless You.
I pledge allegiance to the Flag
of the United States of America,

one nation UNDER GOD,
indivisible,
with liberty and justice for all.
Prayers going up.
Courage to us from above
2Cr 4:6 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to [give] the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
2Cr 4:7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.
2Cr 4:8 [We are] troubled on every side, yet not distressed; [we are] perplexed, but not in despair;
2Cr 4:9 Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;
2Cr 4:10 Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.

That daughter's comment should cause us to ask ourselves if we know God. We may be blessed with life-enriching friendships, acquainted with a wide circle of important people, but do we know God? And is our knowledge of Him more than second-hand information or speculation, the things we might read in books? Jesus wanted His disciples to have an intimate knowledge of God. He prayed, "This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent" (John 17:3). This knowledge is intensely personal, and is gained only through a deep, prolonged friendship. Indeed, the knowledge referred to in this text and elsewhere in Scripture is compared with the intimacy of husband and wife as they become one (Genesis 4:1). We can have that knowledge as we spend time talking with God, reading His Word, and sharing His love with the world. Vernon Grounds

Capt. Jon Christensen of the 2nd Battalion, 8th Field Artillery Regiment listens to Faris Ahmed Shahouth's breathing during a two-hour medical civil action program (Medcap), in Olm Al Mahar, Iraq, on Sunday. Christensen gave the Iraqi man, who suffers from hypertension, enough medication to last until he could reach an Iraqi clinic. An anti-armor unit from the 52nd Infantry Regiment provided protection during the Medcap while Christensen and medics from his unit provided basic treatment to about 25 villagers, most small children.
Who says that Iraqis do not have hearts?

Matt Meiniger of Bravo Battery, 2nd Battalion, 8th Field Artillery Regiment, reads while he awaits the order to fire his howitzer in accompaniment of Tchaikovskys 1812 Overture as part of a planned July 4 celebration at Q-West operating Base, Iraq. A sudden dust storm moved into the Tigris River Valley in northern Iraq, forcing cancellation of the show.
Fortunately the private was able to read music, and the show went off without a hitch the next day following the dust storm.
