Tony Blair Says Leaders Must Faces Terrorism's Root Causes
The Associated Press
Published: Jul 9, 2005 LONDON (AP) - British Prime Minister Tony Blair said Saturday it is crucial to address terrorism's underlying causes, which he identified as deprivation, lack of democracy and ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

Thursday's bomb attacks on London demonstrate the pressing need for world leaders to tackle problems like poverty, he told British Broadcasting Corp. radio. He said leaders had taken on some of those issues at the G-8 summit of the world's wealthy nations in Scotland this week.

"I think this type of terrorism has very deep roots," Blair said. "As well as dealing with the consequences of this - trying to protect ourselves as much as any civil society can - you have to try to pull it up by its roots," he said.

That meant boosting understanding between people of difference religions, helping people in the Middle East see a path to democracy and easing the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians, he said.

"Ultimately what we now know, if we didn't before, is that where there is extremism, fanaticism or acute and appalling forms of poverty in one continent, the conseqences no longer stay fixed in that continent," Blair said.

Tough to win taking two steps forward and one step backwards.

Oh yea, and Tony, don't forget even when you got all those 'root causes' solved...they still want you dead.

The problem is that a whole culture, islam, thinks is destined to rule the world. Either they repent and reconstruct, or they should die.

Poverty does not cause terrorism. Poor people exist all over the world, even here in the U.S. The "root causes" of terrorism are twofold. One is oppressive regimes like the Taliban, Saddam Hussein's Iraq, Syria's dictators, and the Mullahs of Iran. The other is fanatic Islamism that preaches hatred for "the infidels". These two combined caused the current terrorist threat, which is why Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom are such critical parts of our effort against terrorism.

He just can't admit the truth. He is so wrapped up in PC think, that baldly saying we have a bunch of religous lunatics trying to kill us, can't be done.

It's pathetic.

It would also be nice to hear from our Muslim leaders a solemn promise to find the culprits....for that I am still waiting.

A) Islam does not understand people with different religions. To Muslims, you're either a dhimmi or a soon-to-be dhimmi.

B) Helping people in the ME "see a path to democracy" means knocking down the theocracies and/or monarchies that currently reside there. Tony, are you with us or agin' us?

C) The Israeli/Palestinian conflict will end when either the Israelis get pushed into the sea or the Palestinians get pushed back into Jordan. All this talking just serves as a time-out for each side to reload.

PS: It's just easier to kill all the noisy Muslims until the rest figure out they're better off being Christians. Or athiests. Or whatever.

"for us or against us."

those who insist that islam is peace, are manifestly against us.

For Islam means death every where it is allowed to propagate.

In the world of globalism, minutemen protecting their homeland from foreign invasion, are 'vigilantes'.
And practitioners of the religion of sharia, death and murder; AKA Islam, are deemed peaceful.

But Islam is NOT peace.
Minutemen protecting the border are not vigilantes.

Americans in particular, are sick of lying leaders who keep trying to placate us with their phony baloney appeasing words regarding both issues.

Tony Blair.
Get a clue.
Islam is the problem.

Terrorists are not motivated by poverty or by a desire to create a free society. Their sworn objective is precisely to destroy the West. The only "root cause" of terrorism are the terrorists themselves. It may be a circular argument but its also a true one. Eliminate the terrorists and terrorism disappears. It couldn't be simpler. Now if only Prime Minister Tony Blair and Europe's elites would grasp this simple truism, we would be a lot closer to solving the problem.

The best way to end war and ensure peace is to kill the enemy.

With a weed, you must kill the root.

And the root of terrorism is is-slime.

I guess he missed this peaceful lesson:

As a muslim, the only "cultural awareness" that matters is that of Islam. Muslims are not on a mission to stamp out prejudice by "cultural awareness events." The muslim's culture is his deen, based solely on Quran and Sunnah, and breaking away from the days of jahiliyya in which a person searches for his or her identity in racial or national heritage.

Christian/Muslim dialogue is recently becoming a coined phrase for "potluck dinners" in which christians and muslims sit down with food from various parts of the world, and spend the evening getting to know one another, in a vain attempt to prove that muslims are tolerant. This agenda of "cultural awareness between muslims and non-muslims", fueled by the followers of W. Deen Mohammed and other similarly mislead groups of people, emphasizes non-Islamic "culture" and encourages people to engage in bid'a in an attempt to solve the problems of modern day racism, prejudice, and discrimination. See the topic of Auliya (friends, etc) for more information on why this type of social interaction is discouraged, and why the seeking of support from non-muslims is wrong.

The problem or root cause is not the policies of the US etc. It is the issue of Islam's practice of intolerence, suicide, and its' stated goal of genocide to all non-muslims. We, as a free people, rail against teachings of prejudice & hate, why oh why are we tolerant of the teachings coming out of islam ordering the genocide of the free world? Islam, like the abusive person, seems to have been able to destroy the free worlds self-esteem and won world leaders and MSM to its' side as enablers.

Osama Bin Laden is a rich man's kid and well educated. Mohammed Atta the brains behind the 911 attack was well educated. Bin Laden's #2 man Zawaheiri (or whatever his name is) is a doctor (get this was a pediatician). As in most "revolutions" the leaders are from the educated class (like Marx or Lenin). The leaders of our own Revolution were for the most part learned men, not coming out of a background of poverty. The idea that poverty causes the behavior of terrorists is just an outright lie. It's ideaology, not poverty. Blair better learn this and learn it fast, or it's going to happen again in London, and other major cities (hopefully not one of ours).

Bush better figure this out too, if he hasn't already. I know Cheney and Rummy have it figured out, but the campassion part of Bush's conservatism worries me. He can get sucked in by Blair on this. He got sucked in by donating our hard earned tax dollars to go down a rathole in Africa, egged on by Blair. Ugh.

"Thursday's bomb attacks on London demonstrate the pressing need for world leaders to tackle problems like poverty"

Hellllloooooo......earth to Tony....these people CHOOSE to live in caves yet their goal is to dominate the world and shove Islamfacism down everyones throats.

I recall the Talliban did not allow music, radios, TV's, communication with the outside etc. and it wasn't because of poverty. If the truth be known I would venture to bet that SOMEONE is getting quite rich off of terrorist activities. I would also venture to bet that there is more money changing hands and to be made off of illegal weapons than drug trafficking.
