NRO - Corner ^

TWO? REALLY? [K. J. Lopez] All I'll say is I've talked to more people this morning who are prepping for the possibility than I thought would ever be taking it seriously. Posted at 09:00 AM

FOR PETE'S SAKE [K. J. Lopez] In the last half hour the new rumor that is keeping political geeks awake: Rehnquist and Stevens resign tomorrow. (Up until a little ago, the buzz was Renquist, as I noted in Bench Memos.) Posted at 10KùOÅ5 PM (yesterday)

Having Jeff Sessions as either Judiciary Chair or Majority Leader would be poetic justice, seeing as George Mitchell blocked his appointment to the C of A a few years back (with Arlen's help and consent of course).

Or even better...why not put up Sessions for one of these upcoming vacancies....heh.

Lott...what can one say. Geez.

All of the boys you mention would bring stome stones to the majority leader chair. We can always dream.

"All but one should resign, IMO."

All but one? I would have thought all but two, maybe - Thomas & Scalia. I also think Thomas should replace Rehnquist as Chief Justice, then a replacement for Thomas be appointed.

If all of these rumors are true, Bush will have four appointments to make before the next term begins. Bush needs a lot of guidance and we all must insist that he make conservative appointments!

And I just got home and see there is no news of a resignation or two. Dang.

"FDR packed the court..."

As I recall, FDR tried to pack the court by increasing the size from 9 to 11 justices. Didn't work.

If that happens don't rest easy yet. We have a lot of work to do throughout the whole judicial system - not just the SCOTUS.

Like I said, I've been on edge lately, and didn't figure your post for sarcasm.

Those ZOTs will wake you up in the morning, let me tell you.

Bush should suggest it (increase to 11 judges) just to see the Dems go KRAAAZY!

That'll make room for Janice Brown, Mark Levin, and Ann Coulter.

Now is the time that conservatives have been waiting for. Will GWB fight or cave?

Lindsay says he does have the votes to prevent any filibuster. We will see...

Would that be Senate Majority Leader Graham? I thought McCain was Senate Majority Leader? Or is it Senate Majority Leader Reid? There was once a Senate Majority Leader Frist. This is so confusing.

I think many of us feel the same way, red. I voted for him because of the supreme court and judicial system, among other things, but will leave the pubbies if they let us down. I'll become an independent or conservative. M

Then he could marry Ann Coulter and we'd all be in great shape.

I know it's not nice, but I find myself wishing that Teddy would have a heart attack and be out of the picture for a long while. Not dead, mind you, but just out of the picture.

Good thinking! Also he would appoint Walter Williams as Sec of Education, and the liberals fate would be sealed. We've got his life planned out for him!

I agree wholeheartedly. I too am waiting and waiting and getting more and more frustrated. He may have a plan but WHEN? Patience is not one of my virtues.
