...............PBS has, up to now, been recognized throughout the world as representing the greatness of the United States of America: unbiased, nonpolitical freedom of speech and expression by the citizens, the epitome of a democracy..........
This is the biggest, steaming pile of horse excrement that I think I've ever heard pass a dumba$$ liberal's lips. If the aficianados of PBS political commentary truly think this, then there is ultimately no hope for their enlightenment; they are lost forever.

If conservative Republicans had their way, there would be no "public" anything. Yes there would - it would just not be ultra socialist garbage supported by our tax payer money...
It is funny how liberals can not stand when the rules they have used against us for 40 years are now used against them...

No "public" anything". I like that!I saw you running. Using up more than your allotted share of my local atmosphere. Don't worry, I'll send you a bill for the oxygen consumption.
Sorry pay, there are public goods out there. Although there would be distinct advantages to privatising, for instance, the oceans.

For once I can say my tax dollars are really misspent. PBS has an un-American bend, has been anti-religious and since paid TV (over the air) is a success, there is no need to spend my tax dollars on it.
Hopefully, the government will not expand their idiocy to make sure PBS is broadcast in Spanish as well. I already pay an additional tax for Spanish Cable channels that I do not use. As a matter of fact, none of my dollars should be spent on "the arts". If the arts are any good, they will be supported by those who like them, including Spanish language cable.

Ah yes - the Constitutional right to free television, (sure, you've seen it - it's right next to the Constitutional right to sodomy).

PS, It was Colon Powell's son, "Little AH" @ the FCC who mandated that cable and satellite TV broadcasters must include 2 Spanish Language channels. I really object to this as it is a hidden TAX. Such action only causes a divide in America among those who have assimilated and those who refuse to do so, at the formers' expense. In addition,it facilitates the influx of illegals, making them feel more "at home"!

The dirty little secret PBS holds behind its back is their children's characters are worth millions a year in licensing fees, which they collect. This cash flow never appears on their books, however.

Yeah, then PBS would be centrist. Maybe after that we could get at least one conservative network.

....PBS recognized throughout the world.....as unbiased, nonpolitical freedom of speech and expression ..... Well, maybe in Zimbabwe.

It's an outrage the sense of entitlement these self-serving illegals have.....that US taxpayers are their personal ATM, who should finance lifestyles they could never aspire to in their homelands.
It's time we labeled this financial heist as it really is---extortion of the working class by individuals with no legal status in this country.

em>" It's an outrage the sense of entitlement these self-serving illegals have.....that US taxpayers are their personal ATM, who should finance lifestyles they could never aspire to in their homelands." VERY WELL SAID.
I am wondering why we cannot deduct the prorated cost of the Spanish Channels from our Federal Income Tax return, in the same fashion as we can deduct State Sales Tax (this is the last year for that deduction.)

Hmmmmmmm, PBS' Enron-style accounting? Sarbanes-Oxley would cover that.

Risky. If you try it, the IRS may object.
Has anyone tried complaining about the latino channels to cable companies? Or to the municipalities that franchise them?
