My Letter in response to Republican Senate Leadership Survey

Posted on 07/07/2005 6:24:42 PM PDT by Ragnorak

Dear Senator Dole:

I tend to think of myself as an individual with rather grand wants and fairly modest, even meager, expectations.  I firmly believe the Federal government has no business being involved in public education, yet I am willing to accept wasting billions of federal tax payer dollars on an education system whose problems are entirely the result of policy and utterly unrelated to levels of funding.  The Second Amendment is of vital importance to me, but I am willing to accept the status quo of the trampled rights of law abiding citizens.  There are a number of issues that are near and dear to me that can be neglected and ignored by my elected leaders without them losing my support as long as they actually do something.

It would be nice if the Republicans in the United States Senate could finally manage to do one of those “somethings.”  At this point I’m not that picky.  You’ve done it; you’ve managed to beat down my expectations to the point where just about anything would do— and the Republicans in the Senate can’t even muster a satisfactory level of empty rhetoric.

Preventing the flow of illegal aliens into a country isn’t a policy debate; it is the bare minimum necessary to maintain the very definition of being a nation.  If you want 10 million Mexicans to enter our Country every year, Great!!!  Let them enter legally and see to it that the ten million and first never gets across the border.  That seems too much to ask.

I would love to see the size and scope of the Federal government shrink.  It would be even better if we actually limited that scope to the Federal government’s Constitutional role, but I’m not picky anymore.  I’d support the Republican controlled Senate if they simply stopped it from getting any bigger.  That seems too much to ask.

Social Security reform would be spectacular.  Reforming the tax code would be a dream come true.  The President is about to nominate a Supreme Court justice.  The Senate can’t even confirm John Bolton.  Your letter asked for $11.00 to cover the cost of processing this survey.  Given the Senate performance to date, that seems too much to ask.

Sincerely,

PS I do realize there are a number of fine Republicans serving in the US Senate.  It would be nice if they started to distinguish themselves.  Contrary to certain Republican Senators’ behavior, undermining the President and kissing up to Ted Kennedy do not qualify as distinguishing oneself.

Outstanding letter.

Unfortunately, like me, you have a Senator that is clueless, useless and couldn't care less what any of us thinks.

Dole is right down there with my two fools: Babs & DiFi. A more useless pair of dolts cannot be located anywhere.

Any 'opinion polls' or 'surveys' I get from any political org., are immediately deposited in the nearest trash receptacle. Your viewpoint will never be read. The only thing given the courtesy of a cursory scan is if any donation boxes have been checked.

Best to give directly to individual candidates, and of course to The Reagan Ranch

Dole is just the chair of the National Republican Senatorial Committee which sent out the fund raising survey.

Unfortunately, I live in New York which along with Massachusetts just might be able to compete with you for the most useless pair.

Well, too bad that RINO isn't your Senator. As worthless as she is, Dole would be many ratchet clicks above Clinton and Schumer. God, if I had those two, I really would slit my wrists...

This is good, but I returned mine (addressed to Captain Paintball!) in their envelope with the survey blank. I included a note that read something like "I'm not giving you guys a CENT until you stop acting like liberals and start acting like CONSERVATIVES!!!

I wonder if stuffing the envelope with blank paper makes it heavier, and therefore more expensive to ship. Since they are paying for the postage, I have no problem doing that. I hope I get another soon.

And I thought that my letter to her last month put her in her place. LOL

Great job.

if the republican party doesn't pull of at least one of those demands I AM OUT OF HERE. i might go libertarian or even constitution party.

is that waste? supporting the republicans this far and now that they are in total control they have done nothing. THAT is the waste.

they will not get a dime from me anymore until they get off their liberal ass kissing butts and do something.

I got the survey too. I sent it back with NO DONATION and a no more $ until we get conservative judges, permanent tax cuts, energy bill, tort reform....

I also said RINO Senators were tossing away our 2004 win and making 06 & 08 wins unlikely.

Dole is just the name on the letter, the no $ will get attention if several thousand of us do this for the next few donation appeals.
