"I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears and sweat. . . . You ask, what is our policy? I say it is to wage war by land, sea, and air. War with all our might and with all the strength God has given us, and to wage war against a monstrous tyranny never surpassed in the dark and lamentable catalogue of human crime. That is our policy. You ask, what is our aim? I can answer in one word. It is victory. Victory at all costs - Victory in spite of all terrors - Victory, however long and hard the road may be, for without victory there is no survival." - Winston Churchill

As we are learning now from the forensics of the 2 unexploded bombs that have been found it appears that the bombs had a timing device. The question is how could 3 or more of these devices be left at various areas inside the London subway system without any kind of security force noticing? After all England and Blair are a prominent part of the G-8 Summit and just yesterday London was in the news for just having been picked to host the 2012 Olympics, not to mention Blair is a staunch supporter of Bush's campaign in Iraq. Shouldn't the United Kingdom have been on high alert recently?

It could've happened here. Or anywhere for that matter. They have all the opportunities. We only have to make one mistake.

My own fiancee could've been among those 37 today, thankfully she completed her trip to London recently..

Let's kill these bastards.

Wow, I guess Churchill never got the memo from Ted Kennedy, Barbara Boxer, Howie Dean, and friends that surrender is a better war aim....

Britian has invited Muslims into their country, and they have allowed Mosques to be built all over England, so that they may be taken over from within , and Britian has allowed firey sermons to stir up strife and hatred. Britian is only reaping what it has sown, and no one should even act surprised. I am not.

I'm sure that the question is being asked, but you do realise that several million people travel on the Tube during the rush-hour? The stations attacked include some of the very busiest on the entire network.

True, it could've happened here (i.e. the USA), but I now think our security and intelligence is probably among the best in the world post 9/11. We have no choice.

Any theories that maybe the Irish Republican Army (the IRA) was behind this with the help of Al-qaeda? After all, although they may have different goals their agendas might dovetail at times. As the old saying goes "the enemy of my enemy is my friend."

I haven't heard anything like that. The group that is claiming responsibility -- what is it? The Secret Society of Al Qeada in Europe?-- sounds like a bunch of punks. We'll learn more as the investigation goes forward, but we shouldn't be surprised if these animals lived in London.

I just did, too. This is an appropriate site; they even have an option for selecting condolences for the London bombing as the subject line.

Don't be too confident that it can't happen here. Our own officials have said that we can't protect everything 24/7. We already have terrorist cells in the USA. Our "borders" are extremely porous -- all the illegals here are proof of that.

Of course it can happen here and in France as well. According to a Newsweek article last year, "The Hunt for Bin Laden", should OBL's capture be imminent his three sons have orders to kill him. This will cause him to be seen as a martyr in the eyes of the radical Islamic world with possible major terrorist attacks in France and the USA. France has by far one of the largest Muslim populations in Europe (which is not to say that every Muslim is a radical but all it takes is a handful).
