Muslim leaders join condemnation

Muslim leaders have condemned the attacks on London and said they fear their communities could now fall prey to vigilante attacks.

Muslim Association of Britain president Ahmed Sheikh said the attacks would make the Muslim community less safe.

He said women in headscarves might be in particular danger and warned all Muslims to be especially vigilant.

Muslim News editor Ahmed Versi noted one of London's biggest Muslim areas, around Aldgate East, had been targeted.

Mr Sheikh said the unique good relationship Muslims had with the government and society was threatened.

"The person who did this was targeting along with wider British society the Muslim community, ruining the good relationship we have."

"Muslims have to be vigilant now, especially the mosques, and I hope the police will increase security" Ahmed Versi Muslim News

He said the police should consider extra protection for mosques and Islamic schools and said Muslims, particularly women in headscarves, should be vigilant and avoid unnecessary journeys.

"It is scary. A tiny element of the community will make use of this. It is a blow to us, to all of us. It is a moment of sadness and we send our condolences to the families of those who have been killed or injured."

Mr Versi said he had already received one threatening e-mail about the blasts.

"There might be some increase in attacks on the Muslim community especially visible aspects of Islam like mosques, community centres and women with headscarves.

"Recently there have been a lot of attacks on Muslim women on buses in London, it has increased during the last few months."

But he said the immediate Muslim revulsion at the attacks could help calm the situation.

"I don't think there'll be as high a number of attacks as after 11 September because Muslims have come out very strongly, especially Muslim leaders, condemning the attacks.

"I'm sure many Muslims will have been injured as well... one of the bombs - at Aldgate - was near to the east London mosque, it's a very heavy Muslim area.

"Muslims have to be vigilant now, especially the mosques, and I hope the police will increase security on mosques and Islamic centres."

"Muslim leaders have condemned the attacks on London and said they fear their communities could now fall prey to vigilante attacks."

Well, I am sure they would still have the same fear of retaliatory attacks even if they supported this sick terror attack and weren't saying so publicly. To paint with a broad brush, how do we know what they are saying in their stupid mosques? The veils certainly come off then.

What the islamists learned after 911 up until very recently was that they needed to make some sort of noise in voicing displeasure with terror. But they do not need to be sincere since their very "religion" gives them license to LIE. They say one thing publicly and another is pronounced in their meeting places.

Overall, most islamic groups DO NOT voice even token opposition to terror. So, what has really changed on their end? They want to try to quell retaliatory attacks. Selfish...

What "high number of attacks" on Muslims is he referring to? Anyone know?

Plus, they are not even condemning the attacks! Just worried about retaliation. Where is their humanity? They only care about themselves.

IMO they have good reason to fear reprisals. Common
sense tells you that such an organization has to have
embedded terrorists whose modus operandi is based on
secreting themselves inside a respected group. And
even the Honchos of the organization has to know that!
Sure, mom, kids, even Dad in a family may be pro-
peace; but what about Uncle Hassein who keeps close
touch via internet to terrorist groups back "home!" ?
It's the updated version of the WWII adage:
"We have met the enemy and he is us!"

If Muslims anywhere in any numbers had been acting like normal citizens, keeping their eyes open, reporting potential local terrorists to the police, etc.instead of covering up for them and hiding them, I might be sympathetic.

Islamic Terrorism has to be stopped the same way 'Mad Cow' or 'Hoof & Mouth' are stopped.

If there ain't no Muslims, there won't be no Islamic Terrorism.

They have the right to be worried about violence against Muslims, it was certainly a concern (that President Bush addressed directly) here after 9/11.

So true.

Even in laid back San Antonio, we saw it.  An early target by the local thugs was an Iranian owned restaurant.  We responded by increasing her restaurant business to the point you had to wait in line to get in.

What would really be helpful would be for the British Muslims to discover the terrorists among them, then deliver them to the bobbies, hog-tied and with a ham sandwich stuffed in their mouths.

If I were a member of the "cheeky" British press, I'd ask them exacly that!

"Mr. al-PigHumper? You are condemning these cowardly attacks. The Koran teaches that you should lie at all costs wherever possible, to the infidels. Why should we believe you now? How do we not know you are all highly pleased and happy over the slaughter of innocents in the name of Allah, the Swineherd?"

Bullshit. That wasn't a condemnation of the attacks, it was a condemnation of the British people.

"Now look what they've gone and done to us! Because of the bombings, those violent bigoted native Brits are now going to rise up and kill us!"

If that's not blaming the victim, I don't know what is.

If they are worried about their safety from Christians they can always go to peaceful Iraq with their Muslim Cult brothers.

I'll be waiting for Puss Stevens (now Yussuf Islam) to say something about this only because, as a convert, I think they like and respect him.

Damn thats sneaky, notice he did not condemn the bombing or the loss of life, its all about the 'relationship' the Muslims have with others that is the real victim here..

"Muslim leaders have condemned the attacks on London and said they fear their communities could now fall prey to vigilante attacks."

Notice that 2 - count 'em, TWO - "leaders" are cited. Woohoo.

More importantly, note we're still hardly hearing any actual condemnations.

There is indeed more squawking about "retaliation" than there is outrage - real outrage - about the big, very REAL attacks.

"Mr Versi said he had already received one threatening e-mail about the blasts."

Oh heavens. And what did it say? What is the definition of "threatening"? Sort of like my post here?

"Recently there have been a lot of attacks on Muslim women on buses in London, it has increased during the last few months."

And even we in the US have never heard about this increase in hatred in a western nation against the beloved Moslems? Media loves to pounce on any hint of bigotry against preferred groups.

"I don't think there'll be as high a number of attacks as after 11 September..."

What's that supposed to mean? What "high #" in US after the VERY high # of deaths on 9-11? Hardly anything happened to Moslems. Just like hardly anything will happen to them in England. Cuz we're better than that. Better than Moslems.
