Several people have been injured, some seriously, after a series of explosions on London's underground network.
BBC News website reader Scott Wenbourne was on the train travelling in to Aldgate station when there was an explosion in the carriage in front of him.
It was about 8.50am when it happened. I was one carriage down from where it happened and had my back to the carriage door.
All of a sudden there was a loud bang and a flash of bright light. It threw me to the floor in the middle of the train.
At first some people thought it wasn't serious, perhaps just a minor derailment, although some people were screaming.
But straight away, as soon I hit the floor my first thought was "it's a bomb", although I can't be sure.
It all happened in slow motion, I thought the windows would blow through.
Carriage 'ripped apart'
One of the train staff came along and said that we had hit something but that there was no need to panic.
We got off at the back end of the train and they walked us towards Aldgate station.
As we walked up past the carriage we saw debris and torn metal. I noticed the carriage was completely ripped apart on one side.
I saw three bodies on the track. I couldn't look, it was so horrific. I think one was moving but I'm not too sure.
There were also, I think, some bodies in the carriage, some were moving but I couldn't really look. No-one was attending to them.
We walked to the platform, which took about half an hour as there were so many of us, after all it was rush hour.
There were police at the platform and some of the injured were tended to.
Many people had black faces, bleeding from parts all over their bodies. Nobody seemed to have anything too horrific, they all seemed to be conscious.
As soon as I got out the station I phoned my mum to tell her I was OK. Someone from work called as well. I just stood around for a bit trying to take in what happened.
When I got to work one girl said she was just getting off the train at Liverpool Street when she felt the whole building rock.
We've been told at work to stay in the building, pull the blinds down and keep away from the windows.
Our prayers go out to you and, our friends, the British people. Words, at the moment, simply fail me.
Peace and grace,
AAC
You don't have to talk now - just know that we are here for you!
My sister just got to London today!
I have no way of reaching her at the moment.
God bless and keep the British people! They are very strong and will overcome this tragedy, but they are in my prayers at this time!
Bump that. We're here for you to vent, or rant, or cry, or whatever, if you need to.
I am so upset about this bombing.
I am glad to see you're ok Ivan.
I will pray that she's OK. From what I read, the targeted places were usually for work commuters, so not as many tourists should have been affected. I think that's right, anyway.
I don't think it will be shut down for more than a few days...buses should be up and running tomorrow. The economy will likely have a problem due to falling tourist numbers, but you lot can help us with that.
Regards, Ivan
I was over at the Dark Side (DU) and all I read was how upset they were that this bombing was taking away from the Rove/Plame issue and that this bombing was all Bush's and Blair's fault and that it was all because of them. It was soo horrible there today I could not believe. People are dead and dying in London and all they could think about was this being a distraction. I was sickened!
Indeed. I offer just one word for those who would attack the citizens of London in such a manner to contemplate:
Dresden.
Whats worse, is that the tinfoil hat crowd is already trying to say that "Israel knew about this." This is the same horrid crap that floated to the surface of the moonbat sewer during the terrorist assault on 11 September 2001. I thought that it was only a matter of time before some half-wits started blaming "The Joooooos."
Ivan, thanks for posting. Have only been to London one time, 1998, we spent a week there. Lovely city, lovely people. God bless them all! We are moving to LA for a year, then Rome for two years. I hope it is safer by then. (Then to Oman for a year)
That sounds like Justin Raimondo rubbish. Justine should keep his mouth shut about this with idiot theories otherwise someone might attack his protruding poofter lips with a staple gun.
Regards, Ivan
Those kind of people make me sick. All they can think about is blaming someone else instead of the real culprits - Al Qaeda (sp?).
One day, after things get much worse, the west's survival instincts will kick in & Islam will be outlawed & the mosques closed. Its not a religion, its a murderous replacement cult.
Were these "insurgents" that did this?
