A latent but growing resentment here became evident for the first time when more than 200 people, some wrapped in Aruban flags, said they were incensed by statements made by the mother of a missing American teen.
Those assembled outside the colonial courthouse in this Caribbean capital Tuesday night said they fear their tiny island nation is falsely being portrayed as not doing enough to find Natalee Holloway, the Alabama girl who vanished May 30 on a graduation trip with her high school class.

"Respect our Dutch laws or go home," Now there's an idea!
Given the way that the Aruban authorities have bungled this search and investigation the lesson is simple: stay away from Aruba.

Nobody will go to that heathen heaven (Aruba) in a very short time. The place sucks, and the officials can all go to the hot place!

The reason they went to Aruba in the first place is because of certain moronic laws we have here in the states

I'm betting the girl was fish food within a few hours after word went out she was missing. People can search the island from 1 end to another, but the Ocean keeps many such secrets.

My heart breaks for her! All she wants is justice and her daughter. The Aurban Police screwed the investigation up from day one and is a joke!

I would not go to Aruba on a bet. Even if you pay my way.

I am getting tired of her, too. So far, there isn't the first bit of evidence that shows that a crime was committed.

Purposefully ............... I think this is about much more than the death of one girl.

Aruba is a great place. My best friend and his wife went there and want very much to go back. I hope to visit with my wife some day, too. The Arubans are probably doing all they can to fix this - they are very dependent on tourism.
Just a thought - how many many girls were killed or disappeared in the US on that same day?

I wonder if, in this case, the lack of evidence is evidence itself. It's sort of like the dog that didn't bark, or the classic locked room murder mystery. How does a high school student go missing for a month on a small island without there being a crime? In a country as large as the USA, I can see how someone can willingly disappear for a very long time. But on an island like Aruba, how long would she be able to keep up the ruse?

Arubans would do well not to PO Americans. Their very economy depends on American dollars.

Interesting, what are your thoughts? I've been thinking about prostitution rings and drug trafficking. Or just a spoiled little rich kid with anger issues

I am getting tired of her, too. So far, there isn't the first bit of evidence that shows that a crime was committed. Well it depends on your definition of evidence. Last night on FOX Mrs. Twitty revealed that the first day she was in Aruba, Mr. van der Sloot (the father) told her he picked up Joran at a McDonalds at 4:30 am the night Natalee disappeared. Up until now his public position has been that he picked up Joran at McDonalds at 11 p.m.
Then there is this business about coaching Joran that "if there is no body there is no crime." What would prompt a person to say such a thing absent awareness that something terrible had happened to Natalee?
To: Little Ray
how many many girls were killed or disappeared in the US on that same day? Point taken. However for the Arubans to act so arrogant to the mother of a girl who disappeared there while the authorities screwed up so badly is inexcusable.
To: TXBSAFH
It is strange...I used to hear that "Charlie from Aruba" every day on the radio, but since this girl went missing...nothing!
To: alice_in_bubbaland
Your first choice looks reasonable to me. These punk kids (Joran, etc.) were gambling many nights. It's easy to get way behind in a case like that..... then you owe someone a great deal of money. How do you pay them?

All she wants is justice and her daughter.Well... she may never get her daughter back... but there are ways to get 'justice'. With or without the help of the local authorities.
