I think Judge Moore would be an excellent choice. The time before the Senate Panel for questions would be short! Teddy would get an ear full as would the rest of the Dummies! Do it George! Roy Moore for the Supreme Court!!

I love Howard Phillips. But I don't think anyone pretends, Howard included, that this is serious.

Correct.

O'Conners replacement will be a female.

Of course if we can get more R's in the Senate, maybe later.

I live in Alabama. NO WAY should this SHYSTER be appointed to the Supreme Court. I wish he would keep his mouth shut and just GO FAR FAR AWAY!

Not gonna happen, but boy can you see the contortions the left would have over that one, LOL.

I don't know though, maybe it would be a good idea. Nominate Roy Moore and anyone else would seem like a very 'moderate' choice, lol.

I think you're right. But nominate him anyway. Let the Dems go bonkers for a month, and then he could gracefully withdraw his name. Then President Bush nominates someone about a millimeter to his left. Now what's the problem?

The ONLY way this would happen IMNSHO, is if Bush feels he needs a sacrificial lamb for the Dummies to rally against.

Perhaps Bush will name
Patton to the Court. He'd serve
posthumously, sure . . .

I agree. I do have some doubts about Moore's view of strict constructionism but I think he would be a good balance to the liberal wing.

That being said, Moore would face a confirmation hearing even more virulent than Thomas's. He is so diametrically opposed to the liberal agenda they will find any shill they can to cast dispersions upon him.

If he is nominated, I think it would be as a sacrificial lamb for Gonzales.

Contortions? More like spasms of ecstasy. It would be the height of folly to lob them a softball as easy as Judge Roy.

I agree..........Judge Moore has values and ethics, it is questionable if the same could be said for anyone in Washington, including Bush.

I love Howard Phillips.

He wants a religious justice. I want a constitutional justice.

I don't know much about him but he seems like a right wing activist to me. I really don't want any kind of activist on the Supreme Court. Justices should just do their job and make sure that nobody has their constitutional rights stomped on.

Rehnquist should also step down (not sure what he is waiting for...maybe for the Senate to adjourn). Then GWB should simply "pack the Court"...literally... with a bunch of such appointments, honoring Robert Bork...long overdue... and also Judge Roy Moore.

These should be made to guarantee a restoration of the court back to being non-political. And constitutionally-constrained. Clarence Thomas or Scalia should be elevated to Chief by recess appointment as well. We wouldn't even need to do this, but we could really steam the RATS by having the GOP majority caucus meet and send a letter "advising and consenting" to all the appointments...making them permanent!

Although I love Scalia's dissents, Thomas's philosophy of reversing the previous aberrant judicial usurpations is more consistent with what we need to implement. We don't need strict enforcement of the abominations wreaked the last 15-25 years...

Furthermore, There is nothing in the Constitution defining the size and makeup of the Court. Hence, nothing that says we need be constrained to only Nine Supreme Court justices... The Senate should pass its budget and then immediately recess without any further circus allowed the RATs on the Supreme Court or Appellate Court appointments. GWB should immediately move by recess appointment to fill all the vacancies with the youngest and strictest conservative judicial candidates. And then he should go a step further... PACK THE COURT with SIX EXTRA JUDGES OVER THE NINE. Let's BORK the liberals by getting the LAST WORD in the Supreme Court. By following through and using FDR's own tactics against the Liberals, the GOP will no longer be considered too weak to govern, too wishy-washy and lacking in self-confidence or courage.

I am willing to bet that Stevens, and Souter and Kennedy would step down once it was apparent after a year of testing the new justices integrity...that their liberalism was going to be consistently over-ruled by a 10-5 supermajority. Then GWB could pick another 3 justices!!!
