Vandalism trial postponed (Milwaukee slashing of GOP GOTV tires)
Milwaukee Journal Sentinel ^ | 7/6/2005 | Derrick Nunnally

The scheduled July 11 trial date is off for the five Democratic political workers, including the sons of two prominent Milwaukee politicians, who are accused of slashing the tires of Republican Party-rented vehicles before polls opened Nov. 2.

Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Jean W. DiMotto granted a motion Tuesday by defense attorney Robin Shellow, who is representing the son of U.S. Rep. Gwen Moore (D-Milwaukee), to put the trial off because of an illness in Shellow's family. Shellow's mother, attorney Gilda Shellow, fell seriously ill on vacation in France last week and has remained there with her husband, fellow attorney James Shellow.

James Shellow had been working with Robin on the tire-slashing case, and the request to postpone the trial went unopposed by prosecutors and by attorneys for the other four defendants in a brief, hastily called afternoon hearing. Assistant District Attorney David Feiss, the lead prosecutor, is on vacation and agreed to the postponement via speakerphone....

Ping. Likely, the next news out of Milwaukee on this will be an announcement that the charges have been plea-bargained all the way out of the court system.

I knew it was a mistake to let Milwaukee DA E. Michael McCann (not-exactly-affectionately known to local conservatives as McCan't) handle this one. He's the same guy who saw no prosecutable evidence of multiple voting or felons voting illegally in 2000, and who gave a municipal ticket in the infamous smokes-for-votes case (NY DemonRAT socialite Connie Milstein prowled the homeless shelters the Sunday before the election, buying absentee votes for Al Gore from bums with cigarettes).

The good news is that the election fraud that happened this time around is in federal court (the charged count is currently at 5, and the investigation continues). US Attorney Steve Biskupic has earned his reputation as a hang-'em-high prosecutor - even his plea-bargains result in extended stays at Club Fed and felony records, as 3 Milwaukee aldermen and a state Senator have found out.

The scary thing is that DemonRAT DA McCan't was unopposed in his last 2 elections (2002, 2004), even after all of the plea-bargaining, and even after not giving up any of the enhanced pension benefits (enacted in 2000) that cost then-county exec F. Thomas Ament and 6 of 25 county supervisors their jobs (the only elected official to not do so).

My thoughts exactly. Wouldn't be beyond a lawyer to claim mom is sick and I can't do my homework.
How difficult is it to check the hospital in France to see if she's actually there, being treated?

Or nothing big enough back home to shut up the local conservative voices on talk radio, which will be the only voices speaking out when the (expected, all-but-certain) plea-bargain is announced.

My latest NRA magazine issue mentioned a tiny "$12,000" fine given to a leftist gun-control group which had misused funds to support a Democrat's political campaign.

What's horrifying is that these very low fines are a small and reasonable "price" to pay, in the minds of these lawbreakers, in order to get someone into office who will pass favorable regulations & steer millions of dollars their way, to help their pesky leftist cause.

These people can do the math. they're are no doubt laughing all the way to the court when they return to pay their fine. The violation got the job done; that's all that matters. They couldn't care less if they broke the law, as long as the penalties are fiscally light compared to the huge political benefits that they''l reap. It's really nauseating

We need to increase fines for these types of overtly political crimes -- and perhaps invalidate the resulting election outcome. Where there's smoke there's fire; I'm sure the ones we catch are only the tip of the iceberg. One wonders how many other illegal contributions were made & cars engines were tampered with in order to manipulate the outcome of any given election on the margin. Local politicians...eventually become national ones. That's why this unlawful activity is so evil and unfair.

Very interesting names. And interesting to know that it's not blasphemous for them to call themselves Allah. Praise be O! Allah, so open minded! I'd like to change my too. How about "Beer 'O Clock Allah"? "Bacon 'N Eggs Allah"? Or "Mr. Rumpleforeskin Allah"?

Gilda Shellow died in France last Sunday. Amazing what those sneaky liberals will do to delay a trial.
