According to Sky News, Chirac's popularity had sunk to around 30% among his own people. I suspect now that he will be blamed for this fiasco and his popularity will sink further.
Delight...endless rapture. ;)

Fox just ahd two Brit reporters on..they said thaty yesterday's final presentaton, with Sebastian Coe, may well have given it to GB..also....two Finnish IOC delegates, after hearing Chirac diss their cuisine, probably voted for GB...
BTW..I just got the 25th anniversary CD of "Chariots of Fire"..one of the best movies ever..

Let's invite our Australian friends as well. However my favourite pub, the Jerusalem Tavern in Clerkenwell, is probably too small for everyone. :)

I would invite all my American friends to come in 2012. Let's make it a party that celebrates the triumph of the Anglo-Saxon world.I'm gonna hold you to it, Ivan!

If Estonia has a delegate, they likely voted with the Finns as well (the two peoples are closely related). If it turns out the Finns and Estonia threw it to us, the French may want to hang Chirac once he returns home.

Actually Ivan, he should be blamed for it. His rude statement about British cooking made everyone remember how rude and crude the french are.

Upon being asked for a quote, all Chirac could say was "merde"

Standing ovation for our British cousins!

Congratulations! Bernie Goldberg was on Fox & Friends a short while ago and said he was very happy because a whole bunch of people in Paris were very sad. I cracked up!

LOL! This dissent, coming from the hoity toity man who used to work the ice cream counter at HoJos. There's nothing wrong with honest work, but if he wants to be le food snob, then he should apologize to HoJos. Hey! I used to work a counter at HoJo's.....
What's the matter with working a counter at HoJo's?
I found it very......character-forming. I learned all about dishwashers who phone in sick on the afternoon of the Fourth of July when they smell the barbecued chicken cooking, I learned all about "tip wages" the waitresses were working for out on the floor, and I learned what 35-hour-workweek "part-time" jobs are all about.

I caught a bit of his presentation on Sky News this morning. Apparently Chirac said "You can trust France and trust the French". Coffee burst out everywhere as I laughed hysterically.

There were two Finns voting. Considering Chirac's totally gratuitous insult about their cuisine, it is highly likely they voted against Paris. Maybe the French will wake up that there are consequences in having such a jerk representing them. To paraphrase something he once said, this would have been a good time to shut up.
