SIRTE, Libya (Reuters) - African leaders urged a summit of rich nations opening in Britain on Wednesday to cancel debt owed by African governments, reform international trade and increase aid to fight poverty on the continent. Heads of state of the African Union (AU), ending a two-day meeting in Libya, also pledged to step up efforts to end war and political instability

Here we go with Africa shaking down the "rich" nations again. This time they not only want an increased handout, they want trade practices modified to their advantage and two permanant seats on the UN Secruity Council. (That doesn't so like too much now does it?)

Surprisingly, Wacky Gaddafi is suggesting that Africa, and not the "rich" nations need to change in order for African poverty to truly be addressed.

Of course this wont happen so all of us "rich nationers" better get the wallet open...AGAIN!

Cancel all previous debts and loan us more money. How many credit card owners in America would love to get a deal like that.

But this is all America's fault.
If we had not brought all of those Africans over here as slaves then George Washington Carver would have been born in Africa and made them the world supplier of peanuts. Then Jimmy Carter would have moved there to become a peanut farmer and one day would have become President of Africa. After that he would have built every person a wonderful habitat for African humanity and they would all be living happily ever after.
Like I said it's all America's fault.

Unfortunatly I agree with you.

Until the Africans fix their corruption problem (the West cannot do anything about this) -- at all levels, national, state and local -- the West and the Live 8 folks are going to see a boatload of money go there with nothing in the end to show for it.

When there really is massive need.
