Local Iraqi citizens came to the aid of a Task Force Baghdad unit whose humvee got mired down in a ditch June 27.
Soldiers with Headquarters and Headquarters Company 256th Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, was traveling at a low rate of speed along a road when the passenger front tire violently lurched to the right and dropped as the crumbling highway gave way to the weight of the humvee. Since the vehicle was moving slowly, there were no injuries.
An Iraqi citizen stopped to give a helping hand to the stuck Soldiers. At the same time, a boom truck with the ability to lift a heavy vehicle passed along the same road. Once the boom truck started to help, the entire village gathered around to assist. Unfortunately, the humvee had landed in a sewage ditch and Soldiers were reluctant to wade into the water to connect the hoisting chains. Without hesitation, the villagers jumped in knee-deep water to assist the Soldiers.
The uproar of cheers shattered the morning air as the humvee was pulled out of the sewage ditch and safely placed back onto the highway.

I'm sure we'll see this on CBaSs.
Good one. LOL!
Notice how all the news lately slipping out of Iraq through uncommon sources is good? I guess Aruba and kidnappings/murders in Idaho and missing soldiers in Afghanistan are keeping the MSM too occupied to seek out bad stories in Iraq.
LOL, that's exactly what I was thinking.
Oh man, you're slipping...
It's "BUSH'S" Quagmire.
I believe hearts and minds are being won!!!!
Are you sure this happened? What? The Iraqis wanted to help the GIs? I don't think it really happened, since NBCCBSABC didn't report this. /sarc
I don't know what's better....reading the story or seeing a picture of an Iraqi kid wearing a Walt "Clyde" Frazier jersey!!!
It's only a quagmire to those Americans who have a vested interest in seeing us lose.
Gotta love the Walt "Clyde" Frazier jersey.
Great post. Thanks for sharing.
The water was sweeter in that ditch than the rhetoric from the left.
BTTT
I can just hear those guys talking about this with the other fellows in their unit....... " Man, I'm tellin ya, we literally were in deep sh!t until those Iraqis hooked us up!"
Agreed
