The model for fixing Africa and any other socialist country is right under everybody's nose. It's called the United States of America, "But, oh, no! Oh, no!" We can't impose our way of life on people. We can't do that. We can impose socialism and poverty on them all day long because it's done under the guise of good intentions.

Rush nailed it here!

SWEET!!!

I went to a BBQ this weekend and the question, "What should we do about Africa?" came up.

I wish Rush was there - or I was smarter.... ;-/

"What should we do about Africa?"

Same question popped up at a BBQ this weekend for me to.

I did have an answer which most people thought was cold and cruel.

You can give them aid, do nothing, or shoot them, it all has the same effect.

Doing something, anything, just because the situation is bad, is like seeing a drowning person and throwing and saying we got to throw them something, then throwing them an anvil and arguing at least its good intentions.

I made the point that after 8 Live Aid Concerts - perhaps we should stop sending them money and send them condoms and hydroponic technology.

This land has been able to sustain life for years - why in the last 20+ years have they all started starving to death? Where did the food come from before then? How about 200 years ago? 2000 years ago?

We can't keep sending them $$ - it won't help. It never has and it never will.

The celebrities who performed at the Live 8 concert were given goodie bags of expensive watches and clothes and other things worth up to $12,000 for taking some of their valuable time to "increase awareness" of the plight in Africa. I'll bet not a single one of them looked at the gifts and said, "Thank you, but I would much rather you gave the money tot he poor people of Africa."

Now, that is pithy!

Sir Bono of U2 said that 3,000 Africans, mostly children, are dying every day from mosquito bites.

Bring back DDT. That will actually save lives. Of course PETA will get upset because thousand of children a day do not measure up to millions of malarial mosquito's in thier eyes.

You obsess with the Russians to bloody much. You sound like the Stormfront guys who see Jews as the reason for everything that's wrong in the world. Africa's problem is its ruled by tribal warlords who care more about raping and pillaging their neighbors then building modern states.

Kremlin certainly tried to help many African rulers to build socialism with all the disastrous consequences, but modern African thugs don't need Kremlin advisors right now to blame the West (Imperialism, Colonialism, White People, etc.). The method of blaming outsiders on your country's problem is as old as humanity itself. During Cold War era, various African tyrants used both United States and USSR for their own advantages. I.e. Central African cannibal-dictator Bokassa at one point was financially and militarily supported by Washington and at the other by Kremlin.

However, this is recent but history. What's really bothering me right now is that the US and European leaders are listening to these extortions (forgive debt, you own reparations for slavery, White colonialism is the cause of our problems, etc.) and keep on pouring taxpayers money into these thuggish regimes partly to feel good about themselves. The result is that they prolong the agony of the regimes that keep down their own people in filthy conditions while enjoying the fabulous life of rich and famous.

The latest insanity--G8 right after London explosions is pledging 3 billion (yes 3 billion) dollars (on Tony Blair insistence) to help Palestinian administration of Mahmud Abbas--yes the same administration that REFUSES to crack down on Islamic Terror organizations like Hamas and Islamic Jihad and seeks to involve them in his government. In other words, this 3 billion dollars could finance more suicide bombings and other terror acts against Israel and any other targets Islamists will choose in future. Isn't it a mad world we are living ?

I've long believed that for one year, we should impose a moratorium on all foreign aid, with the possible exception of Israel. At the end of that year, we should hand out copies of the US Constitution to any country that comes, hat in hand, and give them 30 days to adopt it as their own. Any country who chooses not to have our form of government never gets another dime of our money.

Does it mean that countries that want our aid should become new States in the Union -:)))))I didn't hear that United States plan to expand beyond current 50 states -:))))
