Left Declares "State of Emergency"
For Immediate Release / Contact: Jessica Boulanger 202-777-1569
The United States of America: Saturday, 84 degrees, overcast. Homeland Security threat advisory: Yellow. Families preparing for 4th of July celebrations: flying flags, cooking hotdogs, baking pies. And yet, Liberal special interest groups declare: "STATE OF EMERGENCY!"
As Progress for America predicted in Tar & Feather, Inc.: A Liberal 10-Step Plan for Judicial Character Assassination, this Independence Day weekend, the Left is whipping their members into a frenzy in preparation for the first Supreme Court vacancy in 11 years. For the Left, there will be no picnics this weekend. They are in full-blown hysteria-mode:
- National Organization for Women (NOW) press release: "This is a state of emergency for women's rights."
- Feminist Majority e-mail: "President Bush could reverse 32 years of freedom and progress for women. ... Let there be no mistake about it, the feminist movement today is declaring a state of emergency to save the court for women's rights."
- MoveOn.Org e-mail: "...our most basic rights and freedoms may be in jeopardy. our most basic rights and freedoms are suddenly very much up for grabs."
- ACLU e-mail: "It is absolutely essential that every one of us rallies to protect the freedoms that define our democracy."
- EMILY's List e-mail: "The moment we have dreaded has happened. ...EMILY's List has an important role to play in this battle by wilding the political club created by the consequences of this process."
- RALPH NEAS: "This is a watershed moment for the country and for the constitution. ... [Bush] has always chosen confrontation over collaboration. He always has stuck his finger in the eyes of the Democrats. ... At stake would be Supreme Court precedents going back 70 years, protecting the environment, protecting reproductive right and privacy, protecting civil rights, protecting what has really been a second American Revolution over the last 70 years. And if he does appoint someone in the mode of Thomas and Scalia, it would be a constitutional catastrophe." (CNN's "Inside Politics," 7/1/05)
- TED KENNEDY: "If the president abuses his power and nominates someone who threatens to roll back the rights and freedoms of the American people, then the American people will insist that we oppose that nominee, and we intend to do so." (Sen. Edward Kennedy, Press Conference, 7/1/05)
"There will be no picnics this 4th of July for Liberals. They are in full-blown hysteria-mode," said Brian McCabe, PFA's president. "The Left can relax, because just as the last election showed them, Americans trust their Commander-in-Chief to keep their families and their freedoms secure on Independence Day and all year long."
Progress for America, Inc. ("PFA") is a national grassroots organization dedicated to supporting a conservative issue agenda that will benefit all Americans. PFA is the leading conservative group working on the U.S. Supreme Court vacancy and for an up or down vote on the president's judicial nominees. PFA has pledged an initial $18 million to combat dishonest attacks on any U.S. Supreme Court nominee.

Not proclaiming to be smarter then Mr. Rove, but I think it would be great if he had one of his staff slip, to the right people, a list of the oh, lets say 200, nah 250, potential nominees that are under consideration for SCOTUS. (leaving a few key names off, of course).
Then let the libs have at it, investigating all these people. Should keep em busy for awhile!

. . . protecting what has really been a second American Revolution over the last 70 years. They admit it! They've been practising a new form of sedition that involves minimum risk to themselves, while trying to completely transform the country into the polar opposite of the republic the founders intended for us to have.

You should claim to be as smart AND devious as Rove. Great suggestion. The libs are desperate and scared enough to fall easily for such a ploy.

ACLU e-mail: "It is absolutely essential that every one of us rallies to protect the freedoms that define our democracy." ACLU policy on the freedom that protects the others:
We believe that the constitutional right to bear arms is primarily a collective one, intended mainly to protect the right of the states to maintain militias to assure their own freedom and security against the central government. In today's world, that idea is somewhat anachronistic and in any case would require weapons much more powerful than handguns or hunting rifles. The ACLU therefore believes that the Second Amendment does not confer an unlimited right upon individuals to own guns or other weapons nor does it prohibit reasonable regulation of gun ownership, such as licensing and registration.
IN BRIEF
The national ACLU is neutral on the issue of gun control. We believe that the Constitution contains no barriers to reasonable regulations of gun ownership. If we can license and register cars, we can license and register guns.
