Sen. Charles Schumer, D-NY, called Sunday for Deputy White House Chief of Staff Karl Rove to personally deny leaking the name of a CIA official.
Saturday, Rove's lawyer, Robert Luskin told The Washington Post Rove had not disclosed the name of Valerie Plame to Newsweek in a 2003 interview.
Sunday, Schumer, who led the push for a Congressional inquiry into the leak, issued a challenge for Rove to speak for himself.
"We've heard it from his lawyer, but it would be nice to hear it directly from Mr. Rove that he didn't leak the identity of Valerie Plame, and that he didn't direct anyone else to do such a dastardly thing," Schumer said in a statement. "I have said from the first day ... whoever leaked the classified information should be punished to the full extent of the law."
The panel is investigating the leak of Plame's name to various news outlets in 2003. It is a federal crime for a government employee to reveal the name of an undercover operative after the employee learns it from classified material.
This could be just the trap you're thinking of.
Perhaps Rove already knows who the leaker is, (a Dem?) and is painting the libs into a corner.
Yeah, Larry, they decided to "reveal" this for the umpteenth time.
Here's a liberal column from over a year ago:

Albany's a blue bit. It wouldn't vote to go. Their loss.
Plame reminds me of a wrinkly Kim Possible.
Hillary is the Junior Senator from NY - UpChuck has been there much longer. But you would never know it they way the MSM acts and she acts. She thinks she's queen!
You wouldn't know it from the way Chucky acts, either. He's stuck so far up Hillie's hind end, you'd need a scanning electron proctoscope to find him.
*sigh* It was just a joke. Guess I didn't make it very well. *sigh*
Let's see... Rove has already testified about the matter. How much more can he say?
Chucky Cheese always makes his pronouncements on Sundays because it's a slow news day. That insures he is one of the lead stories on the local Sunday night newscasts, here in NY.
After Dudley Do-Right and Snidely Whiplash I didn't think anyone ever used that word seriously any more.
LOL - sorry! My brain isn't working too well yet! Still tired from the weekend ya know! ;-)
I agree with you, Mister. I can't believe New Yorkers elected both of these losers to the senate. But there is something I never understood. I understand that there are a certain number of Puerto Ricans within the voting age range, and 100% of them voted for Hillary. How did they get all those Puerto Ricans to the polls to vote for Hillary. I'll bet when she runs for President, she will have 200% of the Puerto Rican vote. There will be voter fraud like we have never seen before.
If I remember correctly, Wilson himself had publicly outed her in one of his own books.
Actually, you almost have to pity the left. All they can do is angrily hector Rove and try to draw him into making a statement that they can put under the microscope and pick apart, desperately hoping to find one little slip that they can pounce on to try and breathe Larry O'Donnell's great "scoop" back to life.
They've got nothing on Rove here and they know it. All they can do is try to make it look like something by making Rove "guilty" by innuendo and association, and hope they can goad him into making a mistake. They're welcome to try their luck with that.
I agree. Then you'll have the NYCites saying "Awww, we pay the most taxes than anyone else in the state, and upstate couldn't survive without us..."
I'm willing to give it a try.
You, me, and a few hundred thousand of our closest personal friends :)
It is sad to say but when Bill Clinton pardoned Puerto Rican terrorist the Puerto Rican community apparently rallied to her side. Yikes.
