Nullification Nancy (Pelosi's botox brain-freeze re Kelo-eminent domain decision)
SPECTATOR ^ | 7/5/2005 | Washington Prowler

Posted on 07/05/2005 2:31:56 AM PDT by Liz

SHINING BRIGHT

House Minority Leader Rep. Nancy Pelosi is known amongst even her Democratic colleagues as one of the less cerebral members of the House. But even her staff was stunned by her seeming inability to understand the recent Kelo Supreme Court ruling regarding governmental property seizures.

"We briefed her on it. She seemed to ask questions as though she understood it, but clearly she didn't," says a Boxer adviser on Capitol Hill. "How else to explain it?"

Indeed. When asked about Kelo and its implications, as well as moves afoot by some Republicans in both houses to negate the ruling, perhaps by barring use of federal funds on projects that involved the state or local taking of land, Pelosi responded thusly:

"It is a decision of the Supreme Court. If Congress wants to change it, it will require legislation of a level of a constitutional amendment. So this is almost as if God has spoken. It's an elementary discussion now. They have made the decision."

Later, she insisted: "Again, without focusing on the actual decision, just to say that when you withhold funds from enforcing a decision of the Supreme Court you are, in fact, nullifying a decision of the Supreme Court. This is in violation of the respect for separation of church -- powers in our Constitution, church and state as well. Sometimes the Republicans have a problem with that as well. But forgive my digression."

"All I can say is wow," says a Republican leadership staffer. "To say anything else would just undercut the impact her remarks have had up here."

Even after the press remarks, Pelosi, according to other Democratic staffers, didn't seem to understand what the fuss was all about. "She was oblivious. She really thought she had a handle on some basic ideas about the Supreme Court, the way Congress works with the rulings of the court," says a Democratic leadership staffer. "A generation of 'Schoolhouse Rock' get this and she doesn't? Her staff should be ashamed of itself for putting her out there."

"So this is almost as if God has spoken."

File this under "know thy enemy". To a creature like Pelosi, whose god is the all-powerful State, god has indeed spoken, in the form of its anointed Oracles of Truth, the black-robed tyrants of the SCOTUS.

Pelosi, Reid, Kennedy, Byrd, Moyers......in the fetal position mumbling: "It's not working, spend more money on it".

Say, that'd look great on a tee shirt.

Ms. Pelosi is first of all a Socialist; she is a member of the Democratic Socialists of America. So it stands to reason that her take on the Kelo ruling is that of Karl Marx rather than America's Found Fathers. No one has ever accused her of being particularly bright - she follows rules well and parrots her party leaders rather than thinking for herself. She blows off the SCOTUS rape of the U.S. Constitution’s 5th Amendment by congratulating them. She does mention that she took an oath to protect and uphold that same document.

Ms. Pelosi is just as obtuse about the President’s plan for Social Security; here is how she looks at it:

” What part of the Administration's proposal to privatize Social Security concerns you the most?

Cutting benefits for future generations
Increasing the national debt
Draining the Social Security trust fund
Trusting Wall Street with your retirement benefits”

None of the questions have anything to do with the plan to save SS in fact they are all spin and propaganda designed to scare people not inform them as none of the questions have any basis in fact; just party lies. Strangely, Ms. Pelosi enjoys the same benefits the President wants for ALL citizens of the U.S., the Social Security choice enjoyed by all federal employees – which Ms. Pelosi is yet she doesn’t want American citizens to have any part of this plan. Pelosi is the activist that keeps the pot boiling and a great favorite of Hillary Clinton’s. She is wrong for her Party and wrong for America.

"one of the less cerebral members of the House" == "dumb as a rubber hammer"

As my brother says, "So dumb she don't know nothin'. She don't even suspect nothin."

You never want to be coddled,
You never want to be kissed,
You're just an old antidisestablishmentarianismist.

When I come close when we're dancing,
I get a slap on the wrist,
Don't be an old antidisestablishmentarianismist.

You've got no use for moonlight,
You'd turn your back on a star.
Your heart is bent and you're against
The state of things as they are.
When you're a hundred years older,
maybe you'll want what you've missed,
Don't be an old antidisestablishmentarianismist!

"Her staff should be ashamed of itself for putting her out there."
No,the stupid rank and file rats who keep reelecting her should be ashamed of themselves. The jackasses on her staff can't help themselves, they're small brained rats. It's the zipper heads in the peanut gallery that have inflicted this moron on our country and the evil donkey himself for trying to make believe plastic face is intelligent.
