Where I saw it last night was a poster posted it on Riehl World, I did not know or notice whether it came from CNN or not. I never read it in its entirety.

But one would presume that fishermen would be at sea level, not looking down an incline.

Yes, the fishermen presumably would be at water level... but visualize the parked vehicle pointing uphill on an inclined beach... from a boat in the water, you would see more of the white top and white side/rear canopies of the vehicle... factor in the time of day, as Palladin suggested... and you get reasonable witness accounts of a "white Suzuki" on the beach in the early AM.

If I recall correctly when PvdS was running to his car attempting to avoid the reporters he had a light blue car like this one.

Since I'm not familar with the beach, that may indeed be the case.

But I'm leery of johnny-come-lately witnesses. Suspicious timing.
