Hillary Clinton Blasts President Bush on Border Security
NewsMax ^ | 7/4/05 | Carl Limbacher

2008 presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton is blasting President Bush for lax enforcement of the nation's immigration laws, saying the White House has dropped the ball on border security and put the country at risk for another major terrorist attack.

In a statement posted to her newly revamped official Senate web site, Clinton charges: "The Bush administration is failing to meet what should be the basic requirements of immigration policy: continuing our American tradition of welcoming immigrants who follow the rules and are trying to build a better life for their families, while strengthening national security in a post 9-11 world."

In a potentially potent bid to win Red State support in 2008, the former first lady is playing the role of tough cop:

"Our current immigration laws need to be reformed," she urges. "We need a better solution to the question of illegal immigration which recognizes the conflict between the need to enforce the law, and the reality that too many employers are using undocumented workers today."

Clinton says that while "this administration has failed to provide the resources to protect our borders, or a better system to keep track of entrants to this country . . . I welcome the addition of more border security."

She pins blame for the failure directly on the Oval Office, saying, "President Bush refused to provide the necessary funding in his Fiscal Year 2006 proposed budget sufficient to hire all of the border patrol agents that had been authorized."

"Fortunately," Clinton adds, "during the Senate’s debate on the budget in March of 2005, we passed an amendment to provide increased funding for border patrol agents."

Then, in a none-too-subtle dig at GOP foot-dragging on the immigration issue, Clinton says: "I hope the Republican leadership will support the maintenance of this funding, to provide the resources necessary to properly protect our borders."

Oh I agree. This is nothing more than a political ploy, nothing more. What saddens me is she is mostly correct in what she said. We need to do more on the border. When someone like the 'Minute Men' try, they are called "vigilantes" by Mr. Bush himself. Not good..........

Hillary is a liar she voted just last month for amnesty all illegals that work for a year.

She can't run and hide from her amnesty vote for all illegals on the ag bill.

Her vote on that will make her look weak on immigration.

If you are for amnesty for all illegals that work for a year and you are for affirmative action for illegals then vote for Hillary.

Hillary is an outright liar she voted for permanent amnesty for all illegals on the ag bill then goes after the people that hire them.

Hillary Clinton is a two face liar. Hillary Clinton makes John Kerry look truthful.

What is great about Hillary being a senator she can never hide from her vote for permanent amnesty for all illegals that work a year. Gop blocked that bill. If it was up to Hillary that would be law and every state would give illegals in state tuition and affirmative action for anchor babies stays as law.

"I think we should place life sized photos of Hillary every 6 feet along the border. This should help to stem the tide of illegal aliens. It's kinda like putting a scarecrow in a cornfield."

Best damn quote of the day! LOL!!!

What's so terribly sad is for the most part she's right.

Accept the message and ignore the messenger. This should have been a slam bang Republican issue. But, that was before the party sold out to users of illegal labor.

Why wouldn't she pick up this issue? After all, the President certainly wasn't using it.

Would someone like to point out to Mrs. Bill Clinton that it was during the Clintons' (two-for-the-price-of-one) Administration that terrorists came into America undetected and unmonitored by her husband's Immigration Service and Intelligence officials, lived in our communities, set up shop, formed cells, asked questions, learned how to fly planes, and plotted and carried out a plan (eight months after they left office) to kill thousands upon thousands of our citizens?

Whatever it is, the apparently unsupervised immigration seems to fly in the face of law-n-order, supposedly a Republican value.

Hillary voted for amnesty for illegals in the ag bill.

What amazes me is that people even take her seriously.

She is a liar.

Look at her vote last month for permanent amnesty.

When conservatives can't see through Hillary we are really in trouble.

One more thing Bill Clinton was real tough on illegal immigration.

The Bush Administration has acted disgracefully with regards to border security but Hillary has no leg to stand on when putting in her two cents. As co-president, she did nothing for national security. In fact, Billary made the situation a lot worse. The refusal to respond to repeated terrorist attacks (and even covering them up, in the case of OKC and TWA Flight 800) was their legacy. 9/11 was their crowning moment.

She will never be able to use this issue when she is for affirmative action for mexican anchor babies and when Hillary is for permanent amnesty for illegals.

Go look up the ag bill Hillary voted for permanent amnesty for illegals.

If you want permanent amnesty for illegals vote for Hillary.
If you want affirmative action and in state tuition for mexican anchor babies vote for Hillary.

I am so sick and tired of this lying fraud being able to get away with her lies.

why is it sooo clear to us and befuddles the Republican leadership? what pressures have been brought to bear that keep them from doing what will keep us in the white house and in control of congress?

"Would someone like to point out to Mrs. Bill Clinton that it was during the Clintons' (two-for-the-price-of-one) Administration"

Your point is irrelevant because AFTER 9-11 BUSH HAS STILL DONE ZERO ON IMMIGRATION! So, his inaction is actually WORSE than Clinton....ugh OMFG did I just say that?

There is "nuance" on this issue.

Rush predicted this a couple months ago. He kind of warned Bush not to ignore this issue or Hillary would attack him on this.

Why not?

What I cannot understand is why the Bushs keep kissing the Clinton's and Ted Kennedy's asses every opportunity they get.

It has begun.

George W. Bush's chickens have come ome to roost.

I hope all of Bush's defenders on amnesty and lax border security realize now how horribly wrong he was on immigration, and how the GOP is threatened by Clintonian triangulation in 2006 and 2008.

"Rush predicted this a couple months ago. He kind of warned Bush not to ignore this issue or Hillary would attack him on this."

National Talk Radio hosts have been DEMANDING action on this issue for how many years now? You KNOW people in the administration listen and report to the president......

The fact that this groundswell has been ignored is actually quite troubling....in fact, the defining moment in my mind was when Bush called the Minutemen "vigilantes".

The only calculation you need to know about Hillary is she is an outright liar.

Hillary Clinton is a two faced bottom of the barrel scum.

Hillary one day with Newt Gingrich the next day at a moveon.org rally screaming bush stole ohio and the election.

If you can't see through Hillary by now then she has played you.

There is not one ounce of truth in her marxist body.

Hillary is a joke she jumps on media reports. Just a few weeks ago she called for a blue ribbon commission on Guantonoma Bay because the media reported it when the general at the base was doing a damn fine job according to Duncan Hunter.

I almost want to see Hillary become president to show how weak she is on illegal immigration. Hillary is also for reversing mexican policy and giving U.S taxpayer money to
fund abortion overseas.

When Hillary is pushing for anti gun laws she will be your president.

When Hillary is in bed with the trial lawyers she will be your president.
