French President Jacques Chirac is reported to have cracked jokes about British food at a meeting with the German and Russian leaders. French newspaper Liberation says Gerhard Schroeder and Vladimir Putin laughed and joined in the banter.
"One cannot trust people whose cuisine is so bad," it quotes Mr Chirac as saying, within earshot of reporters.
A French government spokesman declined to comment on the report, which comes days before the G8 summit in Scotland.
The only thing they (the English) have ever done for European agriculture is mad cow disease
Jacques Chirac The three men met on Sunday for celebrations to mark the 750th anniversary of the founding of Kaliningrad, formerly known as Koenigsberg, an exclave of Russia surrounded by Poland and Lithuania.
"The only thing they have ever done for European agriculture is mad cow disease," Mr Chirac said, according to the newspaper's report.
"After Finland, it is the country with the worst food."

Gosh, I wonder just how bad Finnish food must be . . . I've never heard anything about it, if it were worse than English food, surely somebody would have said something before now . . .
Last time we were over there, we didn't get a bad meal in Scotland and we didn't get a good meal in England (other than Chinese or Indian restaurants).

And the French are famous for the flax plant which makes a bright and distinctive surrender flag.

At least the Brits don't eat snails, eels and frogs.

My Sister and Brother-in-law are vacationing in Scotland right now.
She emailed me today saying how much fun they were having and how good the food was. She didn't say what they had.

Scottish cooking is based on the French, a byproduct of the "Auld Alliance".
I wish we could get the French to just shut up and cook.

The French have a rich history of turning undeserved smug arrogance into an art form. I suggest that Jacques wash down that "bad" British food with a good Texas made wine.

Bet Chirac never had beef kidney pie washed down with a good claret.

"One cannot trust people whose cuisine is so bad," it quotes Mr Chirac as saying, within earshot of reporters. Sheesh, and they advocate tolerance and sensitivity in French schools. Blair ought to joke about the French propensity to surrender and see how Chirac likes it.
To: Ravi
Come on, Jacques, it's only the English breakfast that is lousy:
