City teachers being replaced ( union ensuring those kicked out will get new slots)

………………Requiring a school's staff to reapply is one of the most drastic reforms available to school districts.

.....… …….Northeast Middle, which underwent an overhaul in 1998, has had four principals in five years, according to its restructuring plan. More than a third of teachers are conditionally certified. This spring, more than four in five seventh-graders failed the state math test.

At West Baltimore Middle, where a seventh-grader was stabbed last year, nearly half of teachers have conditional or provisional certification, the restructuring plan says. More than 80 percent of seventh- and eighth-graders failed their math tests this spring.

At Cherry Hill Elementary/Middle, 84 percent of teachers do not meet the definition of "highly qualified" as required under No Child Left Behind. Eighty-nine percent of eighth-graders failed their math test this year; 100 percent failed last year. More than 90 percent of seventh-graders failed in math.

………Teachers union president Marietta English said the union has been involved in interviewing teachers reapplying for their jobs and ensuring that those who are not hired back at their old schools or who wish to change schools are transferred to schools of their choice.

Teachers "in good standing" are guaranteed a job somewhere, Chinnia said: "We're not firing people." .........

The report estimates the states spend $221 million annually on remedial writing training, sometimes sending workers to $400-per-employee classes.

You want bad writing?????? Lawrence O'Donnell should be the poster child for bad writing. This sentence of his cracks me up!!!

"On Friday, I broke the story that the e-mails that Time turned over to the prosecutor that day reveal that Karl Rove is the source Matt Cooper is protecting."

Ah, but can they put a condom on a banana?

Seriously, I attended an English class in college a couple of years ago. Peer editing was painful, because I didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings. Some of those essays were terrible.

As for math....

Who needs to write good when we have the Essay Generator.

An essay on writing good

The issues involving writing good has been a popular topic amongst scholars for many years. There are many factors which influenced the development of writing good. Cited by many as the single most important influence on post modern micro eco compartmentalism, writing good is featuring more and more in the ideals of the young and upwardly mobile. It is estimated that that writing good is thought about eight times every day by global commercial enterprises, who form the last great hope for our civilzation. At the heart of the subject are a number of key factors. I plan to examine each of these factors in detail and and asses their importance.

Social Factors

While some scholars have claimed that there is no such thing as society, this is rubbish. When J H Darcy said 'fevour will spread' [1] she was clearly refering to the impact of writing good on today's society. No symbol is more potent than writing good in society today. It demonstrates a coherent approach, something so lacking in our culture, that it is not recognised by all.

Nothing represents every day life better than writing good, and I mean nothing. If society has a favourite child, it is writing good.

Economic Factors

Our world is driven by supply and demand. We will begin by looking at the Simple-Many-Pies model, as is standard in this case.

Average
Wage

		writing good
There is no longer a need to argue the importance of writing good, it is clear to see that the results speak for themselves. The question which surfaces now is, how? In spite of the best efforts of The World Bank the average wage sings a very different tune. Supply Side Economic Tax Cuts Tax deductions could turn out to be a risky tactic.

Political Factors

Politics has in some areas been seen to embrace an increasing ananiathesis of intergovernmentalism leading to neo-functionalism. Comparing the electoral politics of most Western and Eastern European countries is like comparing writing goodism and post-writing goodism.

In the words of award winning journalist Kuuipo Bootlegger 'Taking a walk across hot coals will inevitably hurt your feet.' [2] I argue that his insight into writing good provided the inspiration for these great words. If our political system can be seen as a cake, then writing good makes a good case for being the icing. Since the Renaissance writing good has become more and more prevalent. May it continue.

Conclusion

To reiterate, writing good is both a need and a want. It establishes order, it stimulates and never hides.

One final thought from the talented Mariah Hanks: 'writing good is the new rock and roll! And the new opera!' [3]

WHY I WANT TO BE A PEDIATRIC (BABY) MARINE BIOLOGIST :-) [College Admission Essay]

Hi! :-)

I want to be a pediatric (baby) marine biologist because I like the ocean, small things, and animals. :-)

Every summer my family and I go to our summer house for July and August and it is near the ocean. This is in Woods Hole, Massachusetts, where there is even a marine biologist museum, and the people inside the museum have cool clothes and they always have shoes that you can't get anywhere else. I call them Marine Biologist shoes. :-)

By the way, I was looking in your course catalog for the marine biologist courses and those courses seem to involve working with fish or things like fish. :-(

I'm not really all that interested in fish, I mean I'll take the required fish courses, but what I am really interested in is animals that live in or near the water, except fish. :-(

I like seals, especially baby seals, :-) and whales :-) (Free Willy was so cool, except or part II), and even wet kittens and other small things, like baby dolphins :-)(are they fish? :-\). That's why I want to specialize in being a pediatric marine biologist, because animals are cuter when they are little, and probably easier to study. :-)

Call me Rachel,
The Future Pediatric Marine Biologist :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)

But the biggest boost to writing instruction may come from the decision by the College Board, under Caperton, to add a written essay to the SAT college entrance exam...critics, however, say the essay is formulaic, coachable, and a poor way to test the kind of writing skills students need in college.

The essay is a good idea. Formulaic and coachable are not big problems. Most people cannot be coached to meet even formulaic standards. If students got good enough to meet them, they'd be way ahead of the pack.

I'm up early rewriting a client's book ...client is a PhD, knows his topic, cannot put two sentences together. PhDs are notoriously bad writers. Teachers are even worse. Who's going to coach the SAT takers? And who's going to grade the tests?
