The thinking of this fool and all his fellow travelers is made quite clear by the fact that, though he sees Naziism in the wars of liberation by the US of people from two brutal regimes, and though he equates gas chambers with the placing of panties on prisoners heads and pages of the Koran allegedly treated with irreverance, neither he, nor any of his fellow accusers have ever used the label of "Nazi" to describe the murdering, torturing, raping regime of Saddam Hussein, nor the beheading, lynching, flesh-burning ideology of radical Islam. If this fool, or any of his left-wing compatriates were in the least bit intellectually honest, rather than blindly antipathetic toward the US, they would have used "Nazi" to describe the regimes against which we fight first, and thus would have been led to the label of "liberator" for the US and its allies.
This is libel, pure and simple. If I could have Koehler in my company for a few minutes, he would be screaming "freedom of speech" at the top of his lungs!

In his rush to lionize Durbin he forgot to hold to the truth. The fact is, that quite the opposite of warning of impending Nazi-like events Durbin has, by his comparison of ZERO deaths in Gitmo to the approximate 9 MILLION deaths at the hands of Hitler, Stalin and Pol Pot he has diminished, and even implied such deaths have not occurred. It's a well known axiom that those who forget history are doomed to repeat it...Well, Durbin and the democrat party has forgotten the horrors of Auschwitz, Buchenwald and the Killing Fields. By virtue of the left's lost sight of history that the left will be the force pushing for totalitarian regimes...just consider the results of what happens when concepts such as big government and the "it takes a village" mentality take over. Individual freedoms become inconvenient to the smooth function of that big government the left so desperately desires.

To find a rough parallel to what we are doing today, it is far more instructive to look at what we did ourselves to the Japanes in WWII. And in this case, we are only detaining combatants, where as in WWII we interred the entire population of Japanese-Americans.
You pretty much have to be a hard core Islamakazi idiot to wind up at Gitmo. I am not going to lose a lot of sleep if these guys are held under humane conditions for a few years while we work out this whole struggle-for-global-domination thing. Given my druthers, though, I would prefer that their treatment be humane. We are good enough to do that.
That article is the most putrid bunch of shlock that I have read in a long time.

And very close to core of Al-Qaeda. If we shipped GTMO every single POW caught in Iraq, we would have long ago run out of room.
