Okay, we're in the middle of a holiday weekend, and I'm bored
My own twisted mind | July 3, 2005 | Me

This will probably get shunted off to general chat, but what the hell? I'm bored. So, let's list some irrelevant things and have a conversation about them.

1. All Time Favorite Movie
2. All Time Favorite War Movie
3. All Time Favorite TV show
4. All Time Favorite James Bond
5. All Time Favorite Author
6. All Time Favorite Detective(TV, Movie, or Book)
7. All Time Favorite Book

That should be enough to get us started.

1. All Time Favorite Movie: Dirty Dozen
2. All Time Favorite War Movie: A Bridge Too Far
3. All Time Favorite TV show: Sopranos
5. All Time Favorite Author: Shakespeare
6. All Time Favorite Detective(TV, Movie, or Book): the first guy to pack a piece in the small of his back - about zillion years ago - early days of TV. Not Peter Gunn or Mike Hammer, but something like that.
7. All Time Favorite Book: Right now, it's Gates of Fire. Recently published - a great, semi-historical read about 300 Spartans fighting a holding action against the Persians at Thermopylae. Without them, Greek democracy would never have flourished, and Europe might today be 100% Muslim!

"Good for you Derwood Kirby. Obviously, you did not have an older sister who monopolized the TV set."

I think my Dad controlled the TV 90% of the time. We both liked the Avengers and I liked Star Trek and Batman, so I was allowed to ahve those 2 shows (actually 3 since Batman was 2x a week) even though I think Dad hated them.

Anyway, remember Batgirl (Yvonne Craig) I swear her costume was painted on. Catwoman (there was more than 1 actress) was pretty hot as well, but Batgirl was much hotter.

I know, it was such a let down, that girl married a talk show host. She could have done so much better.

And you can be sure Ginger would have loved every minute of it. Mary Ann would have been filled with self-reproach. In the long run, Ginger would have been much more high-maintenance, but if you're stuck on Gilligan's Island, you probably don't care much about the long run. Afraid I don't know "Remote Control." My TV knowledge slipped dramatically after the 70s.

"I still would have banged the life out of Ginger. Mary Ann was cute, but Ginger was wild. "

Ginger was a little scary to me. Maybe her boobs were too big for a little kid. I dunno. She also wasn't smart/devious enough. She seemed too empty-headed and whiney.

We got a color set because of 2 shows: Bonanza and the Disney's Wide World of Color. We got tired of seeing Tinkerbell splashing various shades of gray on the screen each week.
Hey that Tinkerbell was hot too! Hehhehe!

"Marta Kristen on "Lost In Space" looked pretty good in that space outfit, too."

She never had enough dialog. She just stood around as eye candy and not enough of that.

Yes, she aged very well. Too bad she wound up with a jerk like Mike Farrell. But, with actors, what are you going to do? Best to stay in the land of pretend.

Oh, what the heck, it's good to talk fluff at times. It's been so intense, this thread has been a welcome relief.

I don't think she was very intelligent. But I did not hold that against her in any way. Another one I liked as a kid, but who I now realize was way too skinny, was Barbara Feldon on "Get Smart." Pretty face, though, and another one with a great voice.
