I wonder if Lennon would have joined Free Republic.I seriously wonder what Lennon would have to say today, especially right after 9/11-- since he loved NY so very much, people might have been surprised IMO.

Are they saying NASA wants to find out whether "life exists" on a comet? If they are, why throw a rock at it?
I'm confused.

[Benefit concerts are] always rip-offs. I haven't performed for personal gain since 1966, when the Beatles last performed. Every concert since then, Yoko and I did for specific charities, except for a Toronto thing that was a rock-'n'-roll revival. Every one of them was a mess or a rip-off. So now we give money to who we want. You've heard of tithing?
Sheff: That's when you give away a fixed percentage of your income.
Lennon: Right. I am just going to do it privately. I am not going to get locked into that business of saving the world on stage. The show is always a mess and the artist always comes off badly.
Sheff: What about the Bangladesh concert, in which George and other people such as Dylan performed?
Lennon: Bangladesh was caca.

I got into a flame war with a high brow FReeper who wanted to discuss what would be the geopolitical, economic and social impact if the novel
Lord of the flies had been written with a year 2002 context.
I simply said that the Gilligan's Island episode with Harold Hecubah was a tool that he could use to seek an answer.
It went downhill quickly from there.
To: BradyLS
..I call it Win/Win/Win.
Oh my. That would be golden! And then could Bush withdraw the nomination before the vote based on her answers? "Oh my! I'm shocked! We had no idea what she had in mind as a jurist!
BINGO!!! That's the point. Toasted, roasted then Dinner is SERVED!!!

The core of the comet has material undisturbed since its creation billions of years ago-- presumably. By examining the crater and ejecta, I'm guessing they can make an educated guess about what it's composed and perhaps how it was formed and, remotely, a stab at its age.

Oh pulleeze--- anyone who can't relate an argument to Harold Hecubah isn't worth arguing with! LOL
Honestly I remember watching Gilligan's Island as a kid, I know I've probably seen every episode at least once, but I really couldn't cite any one unless prodded (like the Harold Hecubah one!)

Well, if they throw a rock at it and a window get's broken, then an old lady with curlers in her hair or an elderly man with his waistline at his nipples comes running out the front door shaking his fist in the air, then the NASA guys go running off in every direction, voila! Life!!!

I still don't see Hilary as an actual candidate in the 2008 election. Can you imagine any Southern States voting for her? Just the prospect of that nagging shrill voice for four years would scare most male voters.Honestly, I put nothing past Hillary. She has a legion of crazies in every state that will do her bidding. 2008 is her best chance. She would be seriously hobbled if she lost her Senate seat in'06, but I don't think even that would stop her from trying.

Hillary will win the presidency in 2008, ushered into office by millions of cross-over votes of Republican women who think "it's about time we had a woman president." It won't even be close.
Meanwhile, I am moving to Aruba.

I suspect the first female president will be a conservative. I also think the first black president will be a conservative.
I was talking to a buddy at a concert ( I saw Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits ) and we discussed the 2008 election.
Most of us had not actually heard anything about Bush before he ran the first time. For the most part he has turned out to be a great president. I think the 2008 Repub. nominee will also be a Governor and someone we really don't know so well.

I've met far too many women who foam at the mouth in their hatred of Hillary.
