The 1970's were a bitch. First Nixon was impeached. he was followed by the dumbest President in history (Ford) and the most incompetent President in history (Carter).
You must remember, there wasn't much padding in helmets when Gerry Ford played for University of Michigan.

I have come to believe that Janice Rogers Brown is the answer. She is fillibuster proof, because she was just confirmed. Democrats would not be able justify "extraordinary cicumstances", having just confirmed her weeks earlier. Plus it opens up another nomination to the DC circuit court.

Whatever cry-baby George says--do the opposite.

Ha, you mean George Stephanopoulos, the impartial journalist who also used to be the right - or left, I suppose - hand man for President Billy Jeff.
He's a credible and non-partisn newsman,...NOT!

Stephanopoulos, stay out, Bush represents a House, Senate, Governorships, Presidential, majority.
Let the majority choose, screen, and represent the voters choices.
There are reasons why Democrats got voted out of office.
One of 'em is selection and placement of Supremes.

If George Steponallofus likes Gonzales, that's a good reason not to like him.
By the way, great screen name. I've been a fan of the Gray Ghost for a long time.

The reason Ford admired that is because he hadn't much of any mind.

Yes, the Gray Ghost and his boys knew what was at stake 145 years ago.
In fact, this thread illustrates what losing hath wrought.

I have a perhaps inappropriate question. If Specter does't win this battle he's going thru with cancer and has to resign or he passes on .. who becomes Chairman of the Judiciary Committee? We would hope, of course, that Specter does well in this fight for his life, whether or not he continues in the Senate.
However, if there's to be another vacancy or two before the '06 elections, and if there's any real possibility of the GOP losing control of the Senate in those elections, and if Specter is not chairing Judiciary, I am very intersted in who would be heading up those hearings.

Liberal Hispania is NOT going to like Garza. He is more conservative than Scalia.

Ford was secretly a Democrat. The guy was a lib on every single issue. No surprise he gave us a far left SC judge.
