TULSA, Okla. (AP) - A statewide poll of registered voters says Democratic Governor Brad Henry would win re-election in a race with former Republican Congressman J.C. Watts.

The Oklahoma Poll co-sponsored by the Tulsa World and Tulsa TV station KOTV found 48.5 percent would vote for Henry and 33.9 percent would vote for Watts. About 17.5 percent were undecided.

Watts has not decided whether to run but a spokesman says he's giving the idea "serious consideration." Henry has said he will run for a second term.

The poll was taken June 23rd through 27th and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.6 percentage points. The poll also found widespread support for the governor.

Seventy-two percent say they approve of the job Henry is doing, 17.5 percent disapprove and 10.5 percent are undecided.

"Tulsa World" is a leftist fishwrap, and anyway, Watts is from Central Oklahoma. Of course he wouldn't poll as strongly in the Northeast, especially since he's, like, not campaigning. Brad Henry is a goon.

Yeah. The unwritten suffix to this poll is "...so Watts shouldn't even try."

It's absolutely hilarious how the 'RATS are always winning these "polls" conducted by their toadies in the Liberal MSM but they can't win any elections. ROTFL!!!!!

Watts has been throwing away his credibility doing infomercials for the Milans' "Free Government Grants" campaign. Sad, really.

Henry got a walk last time. Steve Largent (ex-congressman from Tulsa area) was the GOP candidate, but he simply didn't campaign. I guess he didn't think he had to, but he was wrong. Also, there was an Independent candidate who picked up the Perot-ist vote. And there was a referendum on dogfighting or cockfighting, which brought lots of otherwise inactive Dem voters out of the woodwork.

Oklahoma elected Frank (Foot-in-Mouth) Keating twice, by very wide margins. It's a very Red state. If J.C. wants to be Governor, and makes a real effort, he's in.

"...found 48.5 percent would vote for Henry and 33.9 percent would vote for Watts..."

You got that right. Under 50, and Watts isn't even running yet. Heheh. And, since it might not be an accurate poll, it's a very simple question: Do you want it JC?

J C is a class act.

There has to be a place in the political process for men like him.

Couldn't the paper be charged with a hate crime if it urged "beating" a black man?

Watts is from eastern OK, the Eufala area. Also his brother shot and killed a man so he had some bad press.

I don't think I even what J.C. brothers real name is. The news always called him, "J.C. Watts brother".
