Well...we are 37 minutes into the supposed "global concert of a lifetime" and MTV has managed to show 12 minutes of commercials for reality programming, interrupted 3 performances, and have shown a highlights package from the UK with the biggest names of the day already performing.
Yep. MTV has found a way to not show music on a day where music is all around them. So away with the Live 8 thread....

When I saw Robert, I think he only did one or two Zep songs. I was living overseas when him and Page got together, shortly.

Natalee from the Stars Wars movie was just on talking about getting politicians to pay more attention and do something
Sweetie .. they have been .. unfortunately the Crooks in these poor countries are stealing the money
When will folks wake up to that fact?

Carey, Robbie Williams, The Who then Floyd. Times and order seems to be out of whack.

One could nearly forgive Elton John his ego given his delicious treatment of Madonna.

And yes, I'm a full believer to lying to your kids about certain things *L*I'm sure they feel the same way about lying to parents about certain things!

They are a good 30 minutes at the earliest from Floyd going on.

Hard to believe it's been 25 years without Bonham. Sad. I'm hearing good things about Robert's new CD and tour.

The only way these idiots would have pulled this off is if they would have got th show to air on all the networks.
Airing only on vh1 and MTV is only a tiny audidence in comparison.
I don't know any college student from my school that watches MTV for the music. They may watch the non-music shows on, but that is it. They don't actually watch for the music.
I doubt this will make much of an impact at all.

MTV has found a way to not show music on a day where music is all around them. It's pretty damn sad when Beavis 'n Butthead epsiodes contain more complete music videos than about any other time slot, on a station that is supposedly devoted to music videos. This is what I hear, anyway. I stopped watching somewhere around '87 or so.
BTW, here's the text of Bush's pre G8 speech. (It was delivered with more passion and conviction than most of these music performances will be):
President Discusses G8 Summit, Progress in Africa [Excellent Bush Speech]
