Bush has a proud record of defending private property, look how he was opposed to taking of private property, to build a baseball stadium.

Agreed, it's very unlikely Bush will do anything considering her was one of the worst abusers of taking private property for private company usage.

Zoning Laws are nothing but a way for politicians to solicit bribes in exchange for variances.
If people want to buy property with deed restrictions to maintain a neighborhood, that is their choice, but for the Government to zone, or worse, re-zone your land after you have purchased it is tyranny.

I think the best way to get those who like the Kelo decision to change their minds is to.... (wait for it...)
seize an abortion clinic and put up a Wal-Mart.
muhahahahaha....

Until the courts are drastically changed so that we have judges who respect the right to property, the only way to prevent the abuse of eminent domain is for citizens to hold their elected officials in local government accountable. The voters must use the ballot box to make it too dangerous for elected local officials to even think about confiscating land for private development.

"And what should/can he do?"Oh I don't know, at a minimum tell Americans how much of a travesty he thinks this idiotic ruling by the Supremes is, and that he will do everything in his power to see that this Anti-Constitution ruling gets thrown out.
But since he did this same sort of dirty deed(Taking private land for Private companies), we all knew he wasn't going to do a damn thing. The more I hear about Bush the more I realize except for the WOT, he is a Lib through and through.

Personally, I'd like to see the Heinz Ketchup Co. build a new ketchup factory on the site of Teresa Heinz Kerry's mansion.

I don't think that would work. In any given community, only a very small portion of the voters would be likely to have their property threatened. The rest of the people may even like the idea that soon, they may be able to shop or work in a newly redeveloped area. Sad to say.

Kelo Backlash leading to restoration of property rights, hell - it'll lead to violence if Congress doesn't act fast.
Some mega bucks developer who bribed some freaking clerk making $40k will try to foreclose on Grandapa Jones - but Grandpa Jones has a shotgun. And ole Grandpa will use it on the process server with the eviction notice or the 1st bulldozer that shows up on his property.
(not advocating violence, only predicting it)

The Kelo decision smacks of Fascism. How unfortunate that the GOP is all for this crap.
I think a targeted effort to condemn for private use the homes of those Supreme Court Justices, and any politician who supports, the decision handed down in Kelo. Put their feet to the fire and destory their homes in the process. Win-win!

The GOP is not all for it. There was an amendment passed in the house condmening it. Senator Coryn(sp) of tex has a similar amendment in the Senate. It was the liberals on teh supreme court that did this, not the Conservatives. Call it what you will, but it is expanding the power of Government, an act supposedly antithetical to the nature of conservatism. Liberalism on the ohter hand, expands government.
But you're right, I wish the GOP would do more, especially the president.

Wasn't the 2nd ammendment drafted for this explicit purpose?
