Pray for President Bush - Day 1747
Pray for President Bush ^ | 6/30/05 | kayak

1 Timothy 2:1-4

I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone-- for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.

Heavenly Father,

We thank You for another day of life and hope. We are so unworthy and yet You continue to pour out Your blessings upon us. Your goodness and mercy are beyond compare. You have the power and the might to calm the fiercest storm, to part the sea, to stop the earth in its path around the sun -- yet You also have the gentleness and compassion to ease our fears, to comfort us when we are in anguish, even to know when a sparrow has fallen. You are, indeed, the Lord God Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth; our Rock and our Redeemer. We praise Your blessed Name!

Lord, we pray for those in authority, from kings and presidents to local officials. Guide them to make decisions that are within Your will and place a burden in their hearts to act for the greater good rather than to be driven by baser motives such as greed and power and ego.

We especially pray for President Bush as he leads our nation in truly perilous times. We thank You that You have helped to carry his heavy load and that You sustain him with Your Word. Let Your wisdom dwell within him that he may act according to Your will. We are grateful that You have given him a wife as lovely and gracious as Laura to stand by his side; and we admire their fidelity to each other and to You. Enrich their marriage more with each passing day and watch over them and their family, keeping them safe from all harm.

Those who serve our nation in the military are ever in our hearts and minds, O Lord. Let them know of Your presence with them as they face harsh conditions and a brutal enemy while being subjected to baseless criticism by politicians and the media. Encourage them and give them strength and cunning in fighting the foes of liberty. Keep their families under the shadow of Your wings, O Lord, and be by their sides as they endure the absence of their loved ones.

As we approach the birthday of our nation, our thoughts turn to the sacrifices, the wisdom, and the bravery of our Founding Fathers and those who fought for our freedom. You have truly blessed our land above all others and we are grateful for the blessings of living in America. And yet with each day that passes we see more of our moral and legal heritage being destroyed by those who heed the prince of darkness and seek to destroy all that is pure and good and true. Forgive us, O Lord, for tarnishing Your precious gift; renew in our nation a fervor to know You and to follow Your laws, given not for Your sake but for ours. Bless America, our home sweet home! In the blessed Name of Jesus. Amen.

AMEN TO YOUR PRAYER KAYAK!

"In summer and in winter shall it be."
- Zechariah 14:8

The streams of living water which flow from Jerusalem are not dried up by
the parching heats of sultry midsummer any more than they were frozen by
the cold winds of blustering winter. Rejoice, O my soul, that thou art
spared to testify of the faithfulness of the Lord. The seasons change and
thou changest, but thy Lord abides evermore the same, and the streams of
his love are as deep, as broad and as full as ever. The heats of business
cares and scorching trials make me need the cooling influences of the
river of His grace; I may go at once and drink to the full from the
inexhaustible fountain, for in summer and in winter it pours forth its
flood. The upper springs are never scanty, and blessed be the name of the
Lord, the nether springs cannot fail either. Elijah found Cherith dry up,
but Jehovah was still the same God of providence. Job said his brethren
were like deceitful brooks, but he found his God an overflowing river of
consolation. The Nile is the great confidence of Egypt, but its floods are
variable; our Lord is evermore the same. By turning the course of the
Euphrates, Cyrus took the city of Babylon, but no power, human or
infernal, can divert the current of divine grace.
The tracks of ancient rivers have been found all dry and desolate, but
the streams which take their rise on the mountains of divine sovereignty
and infinite love shall ever be full to the brim.
Generations melt away, but the course of grace is unaltered.
The river of God may sing with greater truth than the brook in the poem--

"Men may come, and men may go,
But I go on for ever."

How happy art thou, my soul, to be led beside such still waters! never
wander to other streams, lest thou hear the Lord's rebuke, "What hast thou
to do in the way of Egypt to drink of the muddy river?"

Amen kayak...the weight on the shoulders of our President would be unbearable if it wasn't for the strength that He provides.
We are blessed to have this man in place at this time, we must continually pray that He guides our country and our President on the right path during these turbulent days.
