As a woman - I worry about thugs like that all the time.
I recently had a problem with a guy following me home from work late at night. He was trying to hit on me at a light -and I ignored him. Then - he began trying to run me off the road.
I was able to pull off into a neighborhood and shut off my lights and ducked down - and saw him looking for me on these neighborhood streets. I waited there like 20 minutes until I felt safe enough to leave.
There were no gas stations or crowded places open on this road. I was totally freaked out. I did write down his tag number - but what would I do - call the cops and tell them he scared me?
These violent, horrible people are everywhere.
As I told one of my girlfriends a while back, that sort of scenario is when you pull out your firearm and visibly check the load. She had to work in a bad part of town where similar things happened, and it helped her at least four times that we knew of. The goblins usually remember a pressing engagement somewhere else and leave.
Technically, it might be brandishing, but no jury in the world outside of a blue state will convict.
Get a license to carry. Women NEED protection. You don't have to shoot him. He just has to see the gun and he will generally leave. If he doesn't, he's crazy and you may have to shoot him to save your life.
For a women, buy a cute little .38 derringer. They are tiny, super light, and will save your life. Just learn how to shoot it. It's easy, and fun.
Oh, and if you got a cell phone, use it, tell um your scared, you've got a concern, and you'd like someone just to show up. That way if you have to shoot someone, it'll be documented, and show that you at least called for help first. A cell phone can be a life saver too, just don't rely on it with your life.
You should call the cops anyway and report it. When I was a college student, I had some yahoo follow me home on the El in Chicago. I was able to get away from him, then immediately called the cops. They picked up the guy (who had a string of rape charges, but not one of them had ever come to a conviction) and escorted him home - on the other side of Chicago. They very unofficially told me later that they had very unofficially told him that if they EVER saw him in Evanston again, they would kick his @ss. I certainly never saw the guy again, even though he saw where I lived, so I think he got the hint. If you get the right cops when you report this, they might do the same for you!
That is scary....next time drive to the nearest police station. I had to do that once years ago. Now, I dare anyone to try that crap...I am trained in jiu-jitsu, carry a glock & usually have either my pitbull or my man with me at night.
If he scared you, call the cops. If the cops are any good at all, they'll scare him. I don't know how it works in
Chicago, but here in down home Oklahoma cops love puttin' the heebie-jeebies into lowlifes.
For the record, I'm sure I have an alibi for that night...
