On Friday night, June 24, FReepers FReeped Code Pink assembled at a gate of Walter Reed Army Medical Center for the 11th time in just over twelve weeks. Again, we had an excellent turnout due in part to reinforcement of DC Chapter FReepers by out-of-town FReepers.
At least five of the FReepers traveled more than 60 miles for the event including at least one FReeper from the following states outside the DC- Maryland-Virginia area: Colorado, Florida, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey (albeit some of them were in the area for other reasons). Why weren't you there to counter Code Pink's anti-war protest at Walter Reed?
The Pinkos evil scheme is to fake friendship with soldiers in hopes of finding one or more who, vulnerable in their wounded state, can be manipulated into joining the anti-war movement and breaking faith with their fellow troops. Many of the most severely wounded troops from the war in Iraq and Afghanistan are taken to Walter Reed for continued treatment and rehabilitation. Will you stand up against the leftists by peacefully opposing them next Friday night? Or is that Friday night movie, TV show, or ballgame too important?
The honor roll of those in attendance: tgslTakoma, Albion Wilde, bmwcyle, Apple Blossom, Justanobody, sauropod, hellinahandcart, jan in Colorado, Doctor Raoul, Gondring, lurker Joan, and BillF. Opposed to our twelve patriots, the leftists peaked at fifteen America-hating traitors for a short period, but most of the time they had less than our number. Apparently, their numbers came at least partly from an anti-military recruiting protest of DC Anti-War Network put on at a recruitment center about a mile away, which ended an hour or two earlier.
This was the fourth week in a row that we outnumbered the Pinkos for most of the two hour window that their protest is scheduled for, albeit they had a higher peak number this night and outnumbered us for a small portion of the time. As happened the last few times, many Pinkos arrived quite late and left pretty close to their ten pm quitting time like they were escaping from a job that they don't like.
An Operation Iraqi Freedom veteran and former soldier stopped by to chat with us. This remarkable woman, Lindsey, made a movie of her experiences in Iraq. You can see a preview here, http://www.therealiraq.com and a DVD of the full movie will apparently come out in September. She had also been a patient at Walter Reed.
One of the Pinko women came over to walk along in front of our signs. When she asked what a "blood dance" is (one of our signs referred to Code Pinkos as doing a blood dance), I responded that it was "what you're doing, an obscene attempt to exploit war-wounded for your twisted, hate-America propaganda purposes."
One of the Pinko eunuchs across the street gave us a double flip off, signaling his IQ with each of his hands at the same time. Getting the finger from a leftist is a sure sign of a successful FReep. After he flipped us off, he then turned his backside to us and shook his tail, in a manner recalling the actions of Congresswoman Maxine Waters at a FReep a week ago.
As before, we had more honks of support from passing motorists than the leftists did, not that we encourage honks in the hospital zone. As happened last week, we had two police cars honk to support us. (Note that there are numerous different police departments in DC). Also, an ambulance was among the vehicles honking to support us.
One leftist going by shouted at us: "Tell Bush to send the twins."
Importantly, a huge bus turned into Walter Reed, followed by a smaller patient van, shortly before the end of the FReep. These were wounded soldiers and Marines returning from some recreational activity. Most likely, they had gone to the Washington Nationals baseball game. Some troops in the bus were waving and giving us thumbs up signals through the windows.
As we have done on a number of these FReeps, we ate pizza on site before the FReep was under way.
We absolutely must keep the pressure on Code Pink and keep showing the wounded soldiers at Walter Reed that Code Pink doesn't speak for the nation. If you live in the DC area and haven't yet come out for one of these FReeps, please do so this next Friday. Injured Walter Reed patients, including amputees, have repeatedly told us how important it is for us to be there to counter Code Pink.
If we can sufficiently outnumber the leftists often enough, embarrassment may cause the leftists to stop these outrageous morale-damaging ("Maimed for a lie" is one of their signs) demonstrations at the hospital. What about you? Can you spare a few hours on a Friday night?
Can you give up next Friday night at the movies to support troops who've given up limbs for your freedoms? Will you?

Bill,
I am sure the majority of Freepers really appreciate what those that can attend these rallies are trying to do. But
surely one can appreciate that the vast numbers of us are
not in a position to attend such an activity, for all the
what should be obviouse reasons. But in no way do I in
anyway criticize your attempt to ask those in the position
to give up some time, to at least consider it. Long distant
driving for many into a town like DC is beyond their lets
say capabilities to cope. That does not mean we all do not recognize the sacrifice you folks are making. Hang in there.
Bump
Maybe I could hitch a ride with you on July 22 if you're going up then? I should be able to rearrange the work schedule.
Important Freep.
How I wish we could get up there to help counter those vile creatures. D*mn them!
Thanks for the pings, Tonkin!
Recurring BTTT
THANKS FOR THE PING. BTTT!!!
And a bump
As you know, ANY time that you can manage, I WILL GLADLY give you, and anyone else a ride.
Hey, aren't you in need of a trip to the east coast? It would be great to FReep with you.
Sigh, it's true I'm in need but not able to fly out there, barring a miracle. It would be great.
Someday! ;*)
One more before hittin' the road!
See ya soon!
There are those whose work positions or responsibilities, family responsibilities, medical problems, or geographic location preclude them from going out in person. Or they are veterans themselves and served the country more directly in the past.
There are also those who do not have the temperment to maintain their cool when confronted with America-hating traitors. And we don't want violence, so, for everyone's benefit, those people are encouraged to stay away from FReeps counter-protesting the left.
It's understandable that many people in those groups won't come out to FReep in person.
However, there are those who won't go to a FReep simply because a leftist might insult them (even as our troops are dodging bullets and braving IEDs). Some won't go to a FReep because they would have to drive 35 miles, but they then go to a ballgame or concert that is 40 miles away. You get the picture. And those people know who they are (I'm NOT talking about you, Marine Uncle).
It's not my purpose or place to condemn those who simply decide that FReeping in person is not for them, although I do try to persuade them otherwise. (Many of them help via phone calls, letters to editors and Congress, etc.) If many more would come out in person, it would help the troops and the country. Plus, I think that many FReepers would be surprised by how much they enjoy it as a fulfilling, sometimes fun, experience.
If you meant that "the vast majority of FReepers could not attend" because of geography, I would point out that there are unlimited opportunities across this wonderful nation. Jim Robinson and the fine Fresno FReepers (click here) have a weekly support the troops rally. GulfWar1Vet, Bluesagewoman and other great Columbia, MO FReepers (click here) have regular support the troops rally and counterprotest of leftists. There are numerous other FReepers who have taken the initiative to peacefully counter leftists and/or support the troops in their own communities.
I agree that driving or flying to DC is not a realistic option for many people located far away. However, the geographic excuse (i.e., "I'm too far away to FReep") may be valid for a particular event, but most of the time the person could organize something themselves in their own community.
I note that the below thread involved locations across the country. While many fine FReepers picked up the ball and took action either in person or via phone, email, fax, etc., most sadly simply typed at their keyboards, cursing the leftist darkness, instead of lighting a candle. That's their right, but I hope that all of us will put more effort into support our troops and opposing the hate-America leftists.

UPDATED FROM AN EARLIER POST. LEFTISTS ARE TIMING THESE TO THE SECOND ANNIVERSARY OF THE START OF OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM. ALL EVENTS ARE ON SATURDAY, MARCH 19 EXCEPT WHERE NOTED. I've reformatted, left out some irrelevant info, and added emphasis. I will post rally info from another leftist group below on this thread. Check relevant leftist websites in case their plans change.
[snip list of events in almost every state]
WHAT YOU CAN DO: Organize a counter-protest of the anti-war protestors emphasizing support for our country, our troops, and our President. Alternately, organize a "support the troops" rally to take place on the same day and in the same city as the anti-war rally nearest you. Or, attend a counter-protest or support troops rally already being held.*The troops are fighting over there. Surely, you can give up a day or two of your free time to organize, support, and attend a rally to counter the hate-America first crowd.
HOW: Some suggestions:
Many fine FReepers at numerous locations organized to counter the leftists on that occasion. (I can't claim credit as many of the efforts were started before my thread.) However, a sufficient effort by FReepers on that occasion would have relegated the anti-war movement to the obscurity that they richly deserve.
Thank your nephew and all veterans on my behalf. Have a great 4th of July weekend!
check this out...look for Jan...

Bill I can only say I admire your selfless honorable acts, in behalf of our troops currently in harms way as well as all that serve. They continue to bring a lump in my throat as I conjure up images of them in all sorts of activities during peace as well as war time conditions. They SERVE WITH HONOR. I do hope what your response included can stir the hearts of those that can arrange to participate in peacefull civic oriented counter rallies to these often total mis-informed and often admitted malcontents of our society.
Their masters for to long have been given a free ticket to arrange hate displays and total disrepect for the country that has been so good to them. I prayerfully hope your mission shall be one of success. God bless you and all that participate in this act of love, for really that is what it boils down to, and may HE bless the good work you all perform.

Got it. BIG BUMP! God Bless Our Troops!!!
Bump and ping
I'm still around, and FReeping leftists! I figured I would pull out the good old ping list to support the fantastic DC FReepers.
I monitor our local leftists on a regular basis, I'll ping you for the next FReep.
