Several grass fires have been reported along Highway 61 and Interstate 80 from Clinton to Davenport. Be aware of some traffic trouble spots along these two major roadways, as police are blocking one lane of traffic to get the area fire departments to the area of concerns. We will continue to update this story and have the latest for you on the KWQC-TV6 News at 5pm.

Traffic backed up on I80 in eastern Iowa, use highway 6 or highway 30 or rural roads to get around them. Drought conditions lately.

That and smokers throwing their lit butts out the window. They cost California millions in damages, but at least the resale value of their car is improved by not using the ashtray.

That's probably why some of them have started. Wouldn't have bothered to post except if people know anyone travelling, I wouldn't want to be stuck in that traffic which is way backed up.

Only if you know it's going to become a major national story which this will probably not. Just my call on it. Maybe I shouldn't have posted it. I kept looking for a source on the net and finally kwqc posted it. They've been talking about it locally this afternoon.

I don't think that's what these are about, and it's about 90-95 degrees this afternoon, plus humidity, which makes it different from fighting the fires in the west where the air tends to be drier.

That could be; I hope not, but we badly need the rain.
